I love that it had a balcony. The indoor pool was warm and clean. The breakfast was good. The room was clean and the front desk staff was friendly. Had nice antique items that give a little history.
The view I had was not the best,I understand it is a woodsy area but there was trash spread out and a lot of broken limbs. I asked for two more big towels because we only had two (it was 4 of us), the front desk lady said that I would have to give two back because of housekeeping 🥴. They advertised late check out and early check in for an additional fee but when I asked about it they said they didn't offer it. The walls are thin, I heard my neighbors having adult time early in the morning. I'm just glad my kids were still asleep.

Loved the sauna & location. Very vintage inside which I love . Has that history feel to it.
The pool was really cold, lots of windows and a very cold room during the winter.
When the heat was on in the room it had a very very bad smell. But it’s also a very old place so I understand the cons, besides the pool they had a fire place that probably should have been turned on.

Good location amid residential neighborhood for visiting Indiana Dunes. Room with balcony overlooking wooded ravine was pleasant. Staff was friendly. Convenient to have Uno restaurant part of complex.
The bathroom light and vent fan (loud) was a single off/on switch so very noisy when using bathroom sink, etc. Breakfast, although fairly typical for this price range hotel, was just adequate.

I liked how clean and well kept everything was. With a "rustic" style, it's easy to let things get a little old and decrepit, but i could tell everything was very tidy. The bathrooms especially looked much more recently renovated.
The main rooms are definitely a little dated, and the wifi was pretty slow. Breakfast was very simple, but serviceable.

Cute.

It was off the highway and on a county road in the middle of steel country, which made it a good retreat from the surrounding noise, traffic and ugliness.
It needed more continuous maintenance and upkeep to meet modern traveler expectations.

the bridge being closed made it a little difficult ti find but we really liked the secluded setting.
The fire ring was a special extra
not the fault of the Inn but local dining left a lot to be desired.

location was very quiet and you could tell that even though the inn needed some updating they are working on it
it was obvious that although the carpet was new it had not been vacuumed very well in the 2 rooms we booked.

It was gorgeous!! Completely surrounded by wild life prominently squirrels and chipmunk’s. Our room included a balcony that gave us a peaceful opportunity to enjoy the weather and enjoy nature. The property also included many swinging benches with beautiful views and a balcony where you could eat complimentary breakfast with a beautiful wooded view. We stopped here on our way to Maryland from Iowa as we planned to check out the indiana dunes in the morning and were very pleased with the service and comfort of this stay especially for the very affordable price! When we walked in, the entire building smelled like fall and immediately felt very clean and comforting as well. I don’t usually leave reviews but this one is well worth a great rating!
There isn’t anything I could say I didn’t like!

Location to National Park
The Smell - the fragrance in the lobby & halls was very over powering but did not cover musty smell in the room. The carpet felt very damp the duration of the stay.

Bed was comfortable, towels were reasonably soft, lots of counterspace in the bathroom (which I always appreciate and often don't get), staff was helpful (gave us plates and utensils for our take out pizza when we requested them); location was quiet, in a wooded area; hot chocolate was available in the breakfast area even in the evening. Great location for Indiana Dunes National and State Parks, as it was centrally located along the parts of the parks strung out along the shoreline.
While the breakfast was decent overall (eggs, sausage, selection of cereals, yogurt, bagels, English muffins, pastries, and waffle maker, the only egg option was omelets with cheese 2 of the 3 mornings (which were only "meh" in flavor), would have liked more "healthy" options for the cereal (like granola or plain corn flakes)

Very interesting somewhat quirky property. We loved it, especially the reading room on the third floor. Very large hotel room with a balcony overlooking the woods. The outdoor swing area was especially nice. And dinner nextdoor at Uno’s Pizzeria was good. We liked the vintage posters promoting Indiana Dunes.
It’s an older property and a little beat up, but if you overlook the signs of aging, it’s a pleasant stay with lots of interesting features. We enjoy hearing trains at night, but if you don’t this might not be your place.

Room looked clean. Breakfast was poor with few options such as only whole milk and the only fruit option was apples. It seemed to be in a good location. We had an excellent dinner at the pizza place on property.
Bathtub would not hold water so I used a wash rag to stop it up. My husband went down to the lobby and ask for extra wash rags and he was told that he could only have 1. The staff said that the bathtub would hold water but it would not. The bathroom was under cosmetic work so I am not sure why we were put in that room. The staff was not very nice in the afternoon and the next morning.

I love the quietness of this location and the Indiana dunes woods so accessible and the great pizza place right on the property. The rooms are big and open onto the woods.

Property seemed very well cared for and clean
The room was very humid, even when running the AC continuously. The pool in the basement might be causing more than desired humidity? The carpet seemed almost damp from the humidity.
Also, the staff did not seem on top of things. Like for example the excessive time it takes to check-in, or no pool towels available. And took a long time to get the pool towels when requested. Even the restaurant had one nice lady serving tables, but only one, and could not handle all the customers, while the host was sitting folding napkins when there was already a huge stack of napkins.

Loved the location. Close to brother in laws summer home. Rustic setting.
Could use a little work and updating in the rooms. Chipped furniture, crack in bathroom sink, no extra blankets or pillows available. Maybe should have asked at the front desk.
Breakfast good.

It could have been a little cleaner and felt damp overall.

Size of room and free breakfast. Common areas are large and inviting.
Pool was closed and ice machine was broke on the top floor.

The location, the staff, the views, quietness, the breakfast.
The restaurant - only one person to seat guests, take and deliver orders, collect payments, chicken parm was not very good. A couple we met in the restaurant said their pizza was not good. We were disappointed but …. Maybe it was just a bad night?
