Inn At Avila Beach

Location was great! Staff was okay

My husband and I arrived at check-in time (3:00 PM) and were informed our room was not yet ready. While we understand delays happen, we were told we would receive a call within a couple of minutes. That wait turned into nearly an hour before we were finally able to access the room. Upon entering the room, we were immediately met with a strong odor of urine and mold. While the room itself was cute and appeared generally tidy at first glance, the smell was overwhelming. My husband opened the windows to try to air it out, and we attempted to make the best of the situation. However, because the bed is located so close to the restroom, we had to keep the bathroom door closed for the duration of our stay due to the odor. We also noticed visible mold throughout the shower, as well as dog food on the floor that had not been swept. The following day, we went downstairs to inform the front desk of these issues and were told someone would be sent to clean the room. When we returned, the only actions taken were replacing clean towels and picking up the dog food. The mold in the shower was still present, and there was no improvement in the smell of the room—no deep cleaning or deodorizing had been done. Additionally, despite being told that dogs are not allowed and that staff was unaware of any dog being in the room previously, we are confident a dog had stayed there. While looking out our window, we observed that the previous guest had been throwing dog feces out the window, which had landed on a tarp on the second floor below. This further raised concerns regarding sanitation, room inspection, and overall guest safety. When we expressed our concerns, we were told that because bleach is not allowed, mold is expected. This response was disappointing, as visible mold, lingering odors, and cleanliness issues should not be considered acceptable for any guest, regardless of cleaning product limitations.

Love the location- couldn’t be better! Love the breakfast on the sun deck. Love the large spa tubs. Staff was super!

Our favorite Avila Beach hotel. Staff are wonderful. Free breakfast up on the rooftop. Complimentary Pie every night from 7-8. Free ice cream, popcorn, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the 24/7 lounge. Free bike, chair rentals.

No outlet by the bed for my phone. Yeah, I had to reach deep to find something I didn't like.

Rustic

The breakfast and coffee bar on the upper deck were wonderful. Unlimited lattes and cappuccinos and the the most wonderful croissants. Better than any local bakeries near where I live. The two employees that worked the breakfast bar were wonderful. The evening warm pie and ice cream were actually quite delicious and the staff that worked the pie service were friendly and warm. I loved that they didn't charge for things like beach chairs, umbrellas, and bicycles. Everything was on the honor system and it had a really relaxed feel. The view from the upper deck and the location to the beach are unbeatable. Price was also reasonable for all that they offer.

This is an old hotel, it is dated, it is not fancy, but it is clean and serves its purpose. It is not handicapped assessable. No elevators, a lot of steps. Not a problem for me, but my for my husband, it was a challenge. The rooms did not have dressers or luggage racks. There was ample closet space, but, I really like to unpack and move in for a few days and not live out of my suitcase. Once, we figured it out, it was all good.

It is very unique, full of beautiful details,li a little garden, gorgeous roof top, the staff always nice.

The room was excellent, with Ocean view, balcony, in-room jacuzzi and good coffee/breakfast. The sundeck allowed perfect view of beach while eating breakfast or watching the sunset. The Inn was within easy walking distance to local shops and cafes.

We could never login to the wifi, as network didn't work most of the time. Seemed as if there was not enough bandwidth.

Location of rooms. Only a small number of room actually see the views of the website. Most only say parking lot or inside parking courtyard. So it was falsely advertised as ocean view with only a few seeing water

The views from the ocean view rooms are amazing.

The property is old. It needs a major facelift. The rooms are dated , the bed was clean but shot , and overall everything in the room and building needs rejuvenated

No elevator! We are 78 and 79 it’s tough for us to take our luggage up two flights of stairs - not impossible, but tough. Of course we could have gotten the rooms on the second floor!!! And not taken both bags up!!!!

Not really a complaint, but building was a bit difficult to navigate, all stairs everywhere.

We loved Inn at Avila Beach! As others have said (which helped us select the hotel ourselves), the special touches make this a gem of a stay. We took advantage of the breakfast on the sky deck (everything was delicious), the pie and ice cream in the evening, the coffee/tea and snacks throughout the day, and the free bikes and beach gear. We did it all, and we felt completely spoiled. On top of all that, the room was beautiful. We loved the wood paneling and ocean-inspired tile; lovely interior. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the location in Avila Beach was superior. We had an incredible stay and look forward to a repeat visit as soon as possible.

Great location. Theme and rooms were cute and felt very “beachy”.

Our room faced the interior parking lot, and it could get loud with cars starting and people coming and going all night.

Great view, right across from the beach and short walk to the pier and downtown. Free breakfast on the rooftop deck was a treat. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is a very old building with small rooms. There is no elevator, so it was a challenge for this 78-year-old couple to lug bags up to the 3rd floor (all rooms are on the second and third floors).

Location

The room is totally different from what we paid for and the picture posted on the website. They gave us an old room and not properly cleaned. They didn’t have the room available when we checked in so they gave us whats available without letting us know. In addition, there was construction going on facing the spa in the room. The construction drilling and noise woke us up at 7:00 am. The fan in the room was full of dust and dirty; the spa was not working properly; there was an insect of some sort crawling on the ceiling(see pictures); the bath was not cleaned properly; the sink was dirty (see picture); the room was old and painted in orange snd blue. We got there late at night and were too tired to complain and we had a family reunion to attend to the next day at 10:00 am.

Everyone was super nice. I was able to check in early. Breakfast was great. Sundeck was awesome, and the view was insane. Loved it.

Our room seemed very dark and the bed was too high for me. I had to climb in and then slide out, next visit i would request a different room with a lower bed.

For the price, it was not worth it. Rooms were clean, but in rough shape. No AC, just provided with a fan. The back rooms do not get the breeze off the ocean. Lots of stairs! Staff was super nice! Bathrooms need updating, but had good water pressure.

Liked the breakfast. Was delicious! The servers worked really hard and provided great service! Love the location. Walking distance to beach and shops was perfect!

The room looked dingy. Couldn't get the tv and fireplace to work. Could use a new bed.
