Interesting Stay

We had a great view out of the front window. The kind woman helped us change our dates because somehow booking had the wrong dates for all of us. We went with friends. We had 3 rooms that needed to be changed around. She was absolutely amazing. She was quick and nice. The elevator is older and it was really different to ride in. My daughter loved it. The doors have codes instead of key cards which was very helpful. We were told the hotel is haunted. We stayed in 310 and heard the elevator going all night. I also had to get up to turn the light off because it would randomly turn on during the night. After the third time I just put the pillow over my head and tried to sleep. It was different.

There was an air conditioning panel in the room but when turned on it didn't seem to do anything. It was right by the door when we walked in. It might have been user error but I did not see an on button, I just changed the temperature but all it seemed to do is put a cute smiley face on the screen. I had my daughter with me and she was playing and found an old beauty blender under the bed. It was right in the middle under the bed. We did not touch it. My husband went to take a shower and is almost 6 foot. He saw an old, dusted over bar of soap on the top of the shower wall. The room definitely needed a deep clean.

It was a little concerning that no-one was there but it was a nice well maintained hotel.

We liked that the hotel was clean. They did not provide any amenities but they did have coffee in the room which is nice.

There is no staff present at the hotel. But some management is available by phone which seems to work OK.

Cute and comfortable accommodations, though not much to do around town this time of the year.

Unfortunately, we visited during the week and were not able to enjoy the hotel's restaurant. There weren't many options in town, so we headed over to Cripple Creek for all our meals.

It was a bit odd not to interact with staff as one is used to when checking in/out of a hotel. However, the Victor Hotel is unique and supposably haunted, so this might be part of the experience. We did have a maid ask if we needed anything, and we also met Sunshine while we were out biking. She was nice to offer up her property at Gray Wolf Lodge for a scenic route, but we opted to stay on the main road. Nice visit overall!

I am so glad I booked the room. I was thinking it was in Cripple Creek, but after arriving we found it was 4 miles away and a TON of history that we may have missed. We will be booking the Victor every time we come to the bike rally. Thank you.

The authentic decor and atmosphere was wonderful. The front door and the room doors were controlled by individual codes. All doors locked automatically when closed.

There were not a single staff person on duty. Everything, all instruction were done by email or message I didn't understand how a hotel can function without a "live" staff person on duty. Strange. I even had to make my own coffee and clean the pot for the next patrons. I felt frightened at times when moving through the hotel after dark and early morning. There were workman painting and updating the decor and they were very helpful.

Beautiful hotel, but check if town is open !

Everything- historically beautiful, authentic and well maintained.

It really was like staying in a ghost town. We didn’t see a single person for the entire time we were there. We would have appreciated a heads up from the property upon booking, that not one single, restaurant, bar or cafe would be open for food. After travelling for 17 hours, and arriving at 6pm, Mining Claim 1899 next door was shut, and there was no alternative apart from getting back in the car and driving back down to Cripple Creek. Nothing open for breakfast either. So, disappointing for a mid September stay

Beautiful Room with lovely view

It was a beautiful room with lovely view! The old elevator was very interesting and fun to ride.

I could here the neighbors and people in the hallway like they were in the same room as us. It was pretty awkward.

Overall, very quiet, pleasant and the staff were great when we saw them.

One morning, we woke up to a very loud argument In the hallway, slamming doors, cussing, and fear by the women involved that she was going to get hurt. They went outside and continued to yell and scream at each other, cussing and one of the people got in a white truck and peeled out down the street. Wanted to call the police but don't think Victor has police? It was just bad and ruined our morning. Would have liked the restaurant to be more available. Sent an email as we needed more toilet paper, cups and coffee and never got a response so I went and took a roll of toilet paper , some coffee and cups from another room.

amazing so many buildings are derelict or simply empty. how could the Victor Gold Mining Company let this happen? they should be ashamed. the tile.floora and carpet in the room were not clean. I had to wipe.up hairs from different people off the floor of the bathroom myself when we first arrived.

Proximity to Cripple Creek. Room was clean and comfortable.

Person temporarily at front desk at check in was surly and unhelpful. Our door lock was defective and the problem was not solved in a timely manner. The front was mostly unmanned during our stay although the person that we saw a couple times was friendly. The restaurant hours were hit and miss and service unorganized. Food was fair.

Nice hotel with Victorian charm and reported ghost sightings.

The town is really nice, but it is four miles from Cripple Creek and the shuttle only runs until 8:15 in the evening. We were told that there was a shuttle that ran until 11 pm by hotel staff when I called the hotel and that is not true. We had to drive to Cripple Creek and fight traffic and parking on the 4th of July which is not easy.

There is not any staff on location if you were to need some assistance. Also, the person answering the phone did not know that the shuttle service did not transport after 8 pm. There were several people talking in the hallway outside our room at 6am. Not sure if it was staff or guests but it was rude. They also ran out of cream and sugar at the coffee bar in the lobby.

It was great to get away at the Victor.

This isn't our first time staying in this hotel. The reason we stay is the History and beauty of the hotel. The typical quietness away from the bigger crowds. We love the elevator and the unique details of each room.

The only thing is that the light coming from the windows in the mornings we were up so late due to the noise of the bar next door which is not a big deal but at 5 am when the sun is shinning directly in your face you have no option but to get up. It would be great if there were an option to close a curtain especially when the blinds were broken. So that we could get more than 5 hours of sleep when it was supposed to be a vacation but we will just bring sleeping masks with us next time.

The history of the hotel was interesting.

Poorly run hotel. While we understand the staffing issue, there should be no reason why the kitchen was left disgusting and food from the previous day was left on the dining tables and on the stove in pans. We were looking for a coffee cup and saw the filth as no one was around to help us. Our room was on the second floor and above a bar and it was so loud, we couldn't sleep. When the bar closed, the people above us went to their room and the floor squeaked with every step.

A hidden gem in a beautiful little old west town

I love this property! The history, architecture, rooms, and peaceful feel away from the hustle and bustle of our daily world. Comfortable, feels like home, and beautiful views in an awesome town. When the restaurant is open they have outstanding food. Awesome, kind staff or no-contact check in. We love you guys and keep coming back. We just love Victor and wish we could be there more!

Very exciting and would stay again

We loved the history and the beautiful antiques. We had several very unearthly experiences that left me shook, and I didn’t sleep all night. The ghost in this hotel are real.

Kind of hard to exist in a hotel with no staff available at any point.

All the people at the bar standing outside until 2 AM very loud and directly below my window. I didn’t get all the sleep I needed. If I ever go again, I will ask for a room on the other side of the building.

Victor is a tiny town but nice for a stop

Our stay was TERRIBLE. And that is not hyperbole: We booked for 5 nights (>$200 a night) and left after one night. We got no refund whatsoever - and yet we were happier to leave than staying in the hotel any longer. The hotel room was more DUSTY than what we would normally accept for a room in this price class, but be we made no fuzz about that given the old style of the place. But when we arrived we found several hairs on the bed and we also noted that some of the SHEETS HAD STAINS, so we looked for an employee to get that fixed. But NO-ONE was on site. The manager did not respond to texts either. The lady working the bar fortunately called around to get someone to swap the sheets (though quite a bit later). The restaurant was already closed at 8pm and we were therefore not able to eat any proper food in the hotel either (or the town for that matter). There was a town festivity (Gold Rush Days) when we were there and a band was playing during the night on the fairground just outside our room. We were not aware of the festivity and the hotel did not think it was important information for our stay (especially as our room was facing the fairground and THERE IS LITTLE IF ANY SOUND ISOLATION) - it made it very difficult for us and our children to get any rest during the night - and we could not sleep in the next day either due to the lack of proper drapes. Indeed, there is NOTHING TO KEEP THE SUNLIGHT OUT of the room. The blinds are just blocking the view but not the light. We asked the people changing the sheets if something could be done to keep the sunlight out, but were told that is not possible - so as soon as the sun was up, so were we. The next morning we wanted to shower and bathe the children but the water came out cold. Again nobody on site! Probably an hour later we got a text that it was fixed. But it still came out cold. At that point we had enough and explained that we would leave.
