Beautiful, large room with a spectacular patio overlooking the vineyards. Huge, updated bathroom. The pool was convenient and quiet. You could order lunch by the pool. They offer a shuttle to take you back and forth from South Coast for dinner. All staff was very friendly and helpful.

I thought there was a full restaurant on premise. The only food available was at a walk up window for breakfast and lunch, so we had to go off property to dinner. We were looking for coffee in the morning, but it's only found by ordering room service for delivery (which was fine-we just didn't know). Breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful scenery. Room is esthetically pleasing, with close parking available.

Insect infested. I had to kill 3 flys, a pincher-bug, a quarter sized spider, and some unknown type flying bug. Check-in staff member did not know how to operate the computer upon check in. Pool closed too early.

We stayed for one night yesterday. We arrived exactly at the check-in time of 4 PM, but our room was not ready. The staff kept repeating that housekeeping hadn’t finished preparing the room yet and asked us to wait a few more minutes. In the end, we had to wait almost 40 minutes before we could get into our room. Our plan was to check in quickly and then visit two wineries, but because the check-in was so delayed, we were only able to visit one. Seeing that all the other guests were given their rooms and checked in right away made us feel very dissatisfied.

Staff was very rude. They were inconsistent. Our keys didn’t work. I did not like to stay.

Check in time is 4 o’clock. Our rooms were not ready. They told me they would call me when they were ready. We had to go check at 5 o’clock. No one was at the office. I had to call and get someone to come. We were told there was food being served at the pool area. Apparently that’s not even a thing they do. The girl in the front desk was very rude. I would never ever stay there again. I’d rather give my money to another location that appreciates your customers.

We will not be back and feel really sad that our stay was so disappointing and frustrating.

It had beautiful grounds and is a great location. Front desk people were nice.

We had no hot water for showering. We even switched rooms after our first night after complaining and still had a room with no hot water. The AC units in both rooms would not go below 70 degrees, however, our friend in the same type of room also staying there was able to set his at any temperature. When we asked the front desk about this they were clueless and gaslighted us about that not being the case. I feel that it is ridiculous to not be able to control the temperature of our room when we are paying to stay there. We were offered compensation of 25% back for our first night, but when we complained about our stay upon check out (switching rooms and still NO HOT WATER) they just said oh sorry and offered no further compensation for what we would consider an extremely mediocre stay. We never once had room service come and ran out of towels, plus the beds are not very comfortable. Room is outdated for the price. Overall, we were very disappointed and wished we stayed at the Ponte next door.

Fix the bed situation!

Great bathroom facilities and breakfast service. Location near a function we were attending. They would have accommodated us with a late check in but that was not needed in the end.

The bed was appallingly bad, especially for the price. It was a sofa pull out bed with only a fair mattress. A light inside the fake fireplace flashed on and off all night.

The place is great, the wine tasting staff and experience is great, but check in and check sucked

First, please know that overall our stay at Carter Estate was wonderful - the grounds are beautiful, the wine tasting staff greeted us, welcomed us, was informative; the wine tasting at Carter and South Coast was enjoyable. The room at Carter was delightful - cozy, warm, a nice breakfast; the room was clean and well stocked with towels; we appreciate that the room includes so much seating space (couch, chair, table with 4 chairs) and a fridge. < ALL of that was wonderful! The issue we experienced is the Registration staff - upon arrival we were not greeted or welcomed, we were told to expect a call when the room was ready - no one called (check in staff confirmed my phone number); when we came back after tasting at the Carter tasting room, the same check in staff dismissed us when we kindly asked why we weren't notified the room was ready. The staff member flippantly said, my manager was supposed to do that... lame, irresponsible, immature. Upon check out, we experienced different staff but the same incompetence and inability to greet, welcome, and interact with patrons... what's the problem here Carter? The place is great, the wine tasting staff and experience is great, but check in and check out bookend a vacation and Carter Estate hires inconsiderate staff to interact with their guests and that is disappointing.
