River Wilderness Waterfront Cabins

Real reflection of old southern charm overlooking Lake Placid. Check in was easy with plenty of parking.

The property and decor was a bit tired but ideal for our two day stay experiencing the Everglades 👌

We spent two nights at River Wilderness Waterfront Cabins; we took nearby bird watching tours, 10k lake tours, mangrove tunnel tours, and more; the property backs onto one of the canals and a large lake. There is a small and functional kitchen; a small and functional bathroom, a very large reception room, a mid-sized bedroom, and a very lovely screened in patio. The reception room had a large size AC that worked very well, and the bed-room had a smaller unit.Property is centrally located. We walked to nearby restaurant and bait shop (where they had beverages, ice, etc). Receptionist was very friendly and the place was clean.

The AC units were not silent, they worked well, so if you're a light sleeper take some ear plugs and also use an eye mask – some of the outside light crept in through the blinds. Be prepared to clean up after yourselves or they charge for the ongoing cleaning. Buy some mosquito spray – not a property issue - just an issue of being near water and humidity.

The location, right on the water and central to everything. Bruce, the caretaker couldn’t have been more helpful. Comfortable apartment.

I am 6 feet tall and the shower head must have been 5 foot. The place is a bit run down. The pots and pans were well used.

Great location and gorgeous views from the back veranda. But that’s it.

The whole of the accommodation was really tired. Rusty oven and hob which you’d never want to use. The pillows were so uncomfortably stuffed, with no alternative, giving us sore necks. Very poor quality shower. Huge build up of what I think was limescale around the fixtures. No hair dryer
