Volcano Lodge was very comfortable and the accommodation just as it appears in the photographs. The staff were excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable. The Lodge is very convenient for the Volcano National Park, which is just a couple of minutes’ drive down the road.
The breakfasts were as advertised, but not to our taste so after the first morning we went for breakfast at the Volcano Hotel inside the park; we were also a little disappointed by the standard of housekeeping, the room being serviced with fresh towels, crockery and cutlery but the bed not made. We assumed that this was normal until the check-out, when a member of staff – we presume him to be the owner – was astounded at the level of service offered. Hopefully our visit will act as something of a learning exercise for the housekeeping staff, and future guests not have this issue.

Location, staff, room, and feeling of being in the jungle. Beautiful space. Stars were amazing. Love the frogs. Gorgeous space.
Proximity to other cabins and hearing crunching of the rocks when anyone walked down the path. Beautiful beautiful space and stay.
More coffee needed. 😊

Cute bungalow, secluded and quiet
Heating system was Victorian. And yes you do need heat at that altitude. A gas stove, nice looking, was fine for evening but at night we had to turn it off… blower noise and way too hot. No choice between on and off. So in the morning, the room is freezing, and the stove takes hours to warm it up. Just one example of the general level of uncomfortableness in this otherwise charming place. At the pretty high price, the lodge felt seriously overpriced.
