Perfect location for exploring the Royal Gorge area.

This is a nice, clean western themed motel. The manager is very friendly, and she provided a nice breakfast in the morning. There’s a historic downtown area a few blocks away with a variety of restaurants and shops. It’s very close to the Royal Gorge Railway.

There’s no elevator, so be sure to request the first floor if carrying luggage upstairs is a problem.

Very happy with the service, atmosphere and cleanliness here!

Kathy and Mark were super friendly and helpful with local recommendations. The place was really clean and felt like a cozy cabin in the woods. Breakfast was awesome too! Pillows weren't to my liking, but all else was great!! Definitely will be coming back as the whole family liked it.

Pillows weren't that comfortable, even though they provided plenty of choices.

Great accommodations for a great price

The hotel was located near other activities and the decor fit the setting perfectly. Breakfast was adequate and the small setting of the hotel was very welcoming. Having a table with chairs in the room for snacks or meals was very convenient.

All four pillows on the bed were very, very firm. A couple of softer ones would be nice.

Extremely well maintained property offering comfort, cleanliness, updated decor, friendly service, and a great breakfast

Although you can tell it’s an older motel/property, it is kept up extremely well! Updated decor throughout the property and all areas are kept very clean. The staff is very friendly, the beds are really comfortable, and the breakfast was great! I would definitely stay here again, and will recommend it to friends and family who travel to Salida!

Homely, clean, well positioned, all facilities you need for short stay, decent and direct staff - the Polish influence :

Very homely hotel, not like usual chains which can be rather sterile. Very clean. Breakfast choices decent, a help your self counter with everything you need to fuel up. Not many tables but seemed to work, some customers grab and go. Efficient and friendly staff. Plenty of food options nearby, but also an easy 20 min walk to downtown (with shops and more eat/drink options) through nice neighbourhoods.

We had had a long day of driving, and the room was a pleasant experience. The price was good.

The room was lovely, clean and well appointed except there was no coffee maker. The lite was so dim it was hard to read the Microwave dials. Breakfast was not until 7am, a problem when you are traveling.

We arrived at Breakfast at 7 am when it opened. There was NO Coffee and the room filled with people immediately. The staff tried to make more coffee, but it took a long time. There were only 3 tables, to sit at, and if there had been a coffee maker in the room it would not have been a problem. That was our only complaint. We checked out and let the staff know it was an issue. He did Apologize, but it was too late.

A quiet, casual hotel with exceptional staff in the heart of Salida

The owner and front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and informative. We were a bit late to breakfast one morning and without a pause they went and brought out different foods for us. They offered bagels & fruit to take on a hike. We were going to just go get breakfast because we were late & had no expectations of them dragging everything back out for us. They gave us a bunch of suggestions for activities and local restaurants. The location is about 5 minutes from the historic downtown and we felt safe walking around the area at night. The beds were comfortable and the room was well put together and clean. The only downside were the hard pillows, four on each bed but uncomfortable. The parking area was clean and they added seating and some nice aesthetics to make it a more appealing view from the windows. You can have mountain views from both sides of the building. There was an outdoor hot tub that looked clean and inviting but we did not have a chance to use it. A very relaxed and casual place to stay with a great staff. We would absolutely stay here again!

The pillows were the only downside for us. Very hard and a bit lumpy, like a buckwheat pillow. Nothing else at all comes to mind. It was a good find.

It's Salida, everywhere is a mountain view. Light comes in from hallway by door.

Clean room. Friendly cleaning lady. Lobby was pretty.

Poor communication with pet policy. Snooty attitude by staff. No elevator for heavy bags. Hallway light comes in through door. No coacking in bathroom at all. Needs yearly maintenance done. A/C didn't work, had to open window. 2 rock hard pillows and 2 flimsy pillows that suffocate you with the pillowcase when you sink in. Overall, a Motel 8 was remodeled decades ago to log cabin feel.

A truly unique place.

The breakfast was above abd beyond. We enjoyed the unusual truly wild west decor in the lobby and yard.

The towels were paper thin and the bedspread was warm for this time of the year. I paid extra for a creekside room. However it was blocked by a parking lot and you couldn't see or hear the creek.

Really enjoyed my stay!

It isn't often that a motel room is found to be spotlessly clean. My room at Brown's Canyon Inn was spotless! Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was light and really nice. The funky decor outside and surrounding the property was an added treat. Thank you, and I would be glad to recommend the Inn to friends and family staying in that area of the state.

The hotel did not inform us of a planned overnight power outage the utility company Xcel Energy instituted that lasted 6–7 hours. AC and power were off most of the night. A sign in the lobby the next morning confirmed management was aware. Very disappointing and should have been disclosed in advance.

Nice property and great staff let down by a couple key things

Overall vibe was fun and family friendly. Breakfast options were good considering the type of property. Hot tub and area looked nice but we didn’t use.

Uncomfortable beds. Hard mattresses and pillows. Pillows felt like folded towels. Our room door had such a large gap with the door jam that we could see into the hallway. Could fit at least 1 credit card in the gap.

We loved the decoration of this hotel, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. It's super close to downtown (could even walk but it's only a 5 min drive). Breakfast had a ton of variety.

The male front desk clerk! Rude & very unprofessional! I have never been treated so rudely! He even came out to us in our car & harassed us further. He seems like he had some personal anger issues. He canceled our reservation for basically no reason. Do not go there. Down a few blocks is Silver Ridge lodge, same price that was wonderful!

My stay was too short.

The first thing I liked was the management going out of their way to absorb a communication problem about my having brought my dog with me. They didn’t get that information through booking.com as they should have and had to make a special accommodation for me and my dog. I really liked the management. The room was perfect for my dog and me. I also loved how the hotel was so nicely decorated. It gave a unique and warm feeling about the place you wouldn’t find at any standard hotel.

It would have been better for both the management and me if I had booked directly with them rather than through booking.com. What I didn’t like had nothing to do with the hotel, but with my schedule. I would have loved to have the time to use the hot tub.
