St Charles Hotel Downtown Hudson

Great location! The room was a good size, beds comfortable, and easy parking!

Do not use booking.com to message property. I was trying to contact them for 2 weeks with no response via message or calling. Google the website and use that number / what’s app or email! They are responsive on that only! They have trouble with booking.com messaging which isn’t their fault but very frustrating. Doors are also locked after 11 which isn’t a problem but should be advertised beside a paper on the door. They had breakfast things out but the lights in dining area were off. No one was at desk during day prior to check in times to answer questions, give recommendations etc. Just an underwhelming stay for the price point.

The location was great and there was plenty of free parking. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. While the hotel is a bit run down overall, the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The included breakfast was better than I expected.

The window in my room didn't lock. The room was on an upper floor but no functioning lock was still a concern. While the price was comparable to other properties in the area, it seemed a bit high for that hotel.

The fact that there is some sort of breakfast on offer helps and a place to eat it. I can appreciate the relaxed vibe of the place and sporadic staff appearances. The location and free parking lot is the best thing about it. Oh and it had a decent clean bed even if the headboard was slightly detaching from the paneling over the nightstand it was supposed to connect to.

Its definitely 2 star hotel expectations. Im super cheap when it comes to staying overnight anywhere. I think the prices everywhere are astronomical so take my review from where its coming. This place was the cheapest on offer for this town but still too high for what it was. It has a youth hostel feel with bedrooms that are attempting or at least have in the past at being hotel quality. Cleanliness was at the same level, Like a janitor came through and did a decent job that day at the public bathroom but you still spot some filth in the corners as you sit on the toilet seat that is unattached one one side (it was). I would have partook in the free egg and sausage patties that were there for breakfast if there had been more than just what looked like the end of some wonder bread in a bag to put it on so i just had some coffee from the carafe and some breakfast bars i brought with me. I also chose the coffee from the carafe because the in room coffee maker looked a bit moldy or dusty inside. They do provide coffee packs in the room but my room had no complimentary bottled water in it. Mini fridge empty and it or something else made a running noise intermittently in the night. Its a fine place if u keep your standards in check. Hudson is a stunning area.
