A buddy and I stayed for a basketball tournament over the weekend. They increased the prices per night by almost double the amount. When I checked in, I had to stand and wait for the employee to finally come up and check us in and when he did, he wouldn't let me pay with the card that I wanted to pay with which was frustrating because he asked me if I was checking in with the card on file and I responded "yes" not remembering right away that I used a different card when reserving the room. So right away I said "Sorry, I actually did want to use a different card. My apologies." and then explained why. He just shook his head and told me that it was too late to change the card.. I would understand if the transaction was completed already but all that I had done so far was put my card in the chip reader. If I would have just pulled it out or hit the red "X", we would have had to go through the transaction again anyway. So basically it seemed as if he just didn't feel like going through the quick process of using a different card.
On our second night (Friday), we realized that there was a big storm coming and Brookings went into a Blizzard warning. So we decided that for safety purposes, we were going to leave on Saturday morning. Now I was by no means expecting to get refunded for the night that we didn't stay but a slight discount would have been nice considering we had to leave early due to the blizzard coming in. The snow that they got would have kept us in Brookings for another two days as the interstate was shut down due to a no travel advisory. We would have stayed that Saturday night if not having to leave due to the blizzard.
I was very disappointed all around with this stay and the employee's mindsets here. I can confidently say that I will not be staying here if I ever need a hotel in Brookings again.

All necessary facilities were available and the stay was comfortable overall. There was an unpleasant smell in the breakfast dining area, and the breakfast choices were limited. However, considering the price, it was good value for a night’s stay.

While I didn't get to spend a lot of time here, it had very comfortable beds and was super conveniently located to the location I needed to be that night.
