    The location is convenient to US-127, though it’s a bit of a drive from the main Houghton Lake area. The hotel sits right on the water with a nice view, but there’s no beach—just a seawall. The property is clean, but quite dated and in need of updates. The mattresses are very worn and sink in uncomfortably, which really affected the stay. Breakfast is included, though it’s very limited—mostly carbs (waffles, bagels, toast) with no eggs, sausage, or other hot options. On the plus side, the on-site restaurant/bar is nice, with good food and outdoor seating. The location is also great for boaters, since it’s right next to the public launch. Some areas could use more attention to detail, like the balcony, which had spider webs and dead bugs and the bedspreads were dirty. The lake is shallow near the dock, so pontoon boats have to trim their motors up to get in. Overall, it’s not terrible, but the outdated rooms and uncomfortable beds make it hard to fully enjoy what could otherwise be a solid spot.
