Lakeside Resort & Conference Center

The location is convenient to US-127, though it’s a bit of a drive from the main Houghton Lake area. The hotel sits right on the water with a nice view, but there’s no beach—just a seawall. The property is clean, but quite dated and in need of updates. The mattresses are very worn and sink in uncomfortably, which really affected the stay. Breakfast is included, though it’s very limited—mostly carbs (waffles, bagels, toast) with no eggs, sausage, or other hot options. On the plus side, the on-site restaurant/bar is nice, with good food and outdoor seating. The location is also great for boaters, since it’s right next to the public launch. Some areas could use more attention to detail, like the balcony, which had spider webs and dead bugs and the bedspreads were dirty. The lake is shallow near the dock, so pontoon boats have to trim their motors up to get in. Overall, it’s not terrible, but the outdated rooms and uncomfortable beds make it hard to fully enjoy what could otherwise be a solid spot.

I was quite disappointed. My last two stays have not been pleasant. My last day. The the shower water wasn't that hot. The hot tub wasn't that hot. This stay was even worse The water slide was down and they failed to tell people. They even had people call that morning and they told them the water park was up and running. Now there was a pool but the main component of the water park. The water slide pool was down. As you can see. That room wasn't cleaned completely. It was still old food in the fridge. The shower water was lukewarm. The hot tub was just warm not hot like it used to be. The one young man that was there a smaller build with slicked back hair was highly anxious and overly annoyed with the pool situation and came off rude. There were two wonderful staff members only dark haired lady so nicely dressed and an older lady with a grey haired pony tail who was very kind and understanding as well. However since this new management has taken over the hotel is not the same as it was and I have been coming here for years now and unfortunately if it don't straighten up the next visit or 2 we will be looking at different options. Also, restaurant food can be great some days and awful the next, great flavor pizza but soggy wet like bread in water soggy. Very very slow too and they can totally make a disaster of a meal. Got meat lovers minus ham.... Came with ham... Got 2 spaghetti and a buttered noodle for kids to go .. I get to room they gave me 2 spaghetti and chicken tenders.... Oh and the waiter dropped cheese bread on floor. I asked that when she remade she just bring in to go box and please give some ranch and silverware.... Got the cheese bread no ranch no silverware.... Just one thing after another, nothing huge but I never had complaints about this place in the past but my last 2 stays just not what it's been over the years and a great disappointment
