Good stay, great breakfast..

The staff members who checked us in was friendly, he loved what he does, Super knowledgeable old school, charm and manners, genuinely cared that my husband and I had all our requested comforts. Hearst Castle was amazing and we recently stay at a Julia Morgan Horel in Berkeley.

Jacuzzi tub jets only one out of the tubs workd properly. When I brought it up to the younger gentleman he was no help, regarding adjusting our bill or any type of comp for the inconvenience of not receiving what we paid for. It was our anniversary, our getaway from 8 kids and 9 grandkids.I wanted to pamper my husband.

The hotel is beside the highway and is easy to find. The breakfast was good compared with other hotels in California offering breakfast.

Amazing quality and price!

The staff here are exceptionally kind snd helpful! Was greeted with fresh baked cookies and even given assistance with my suitcase. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a restaurant on site that serves dinner as well as a heated pool, jacuzzi and fire pit. The free breakfast was great and included waffles, fruit, eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuits and gravy and more. And pets stay for free! This place is an absolute gem!

I’m sensitive and thought the beds were a bit firm, but would stay here again regardless!

What’s not to love

I love the coffee and hot chocolate and cookies that are available at check in, the staff is welcoming and the rooms are clean and comfortable, we had a small balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. And we loved the amazing free breakfast every morning,there was so much to choose from. The location was just minutes from Hearst Castle and the beach was just across the street. They also have a steak and seafood restaurant attached although we didn’t get to try it out. There is a pool and hot tub and a fire pit to enjoy as well.

The service was absolutely exceptional. Instantly felt like family. The rooms were nicely appointed and well laid out. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The linens were first rate as were the towels. The beds were very comfortable and the balconies provided a wonderful view while protecting you from the wind. The breakfast was wonderful having numerous choices and well prepared. Additionally, the chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon were a nice treat.

I have no negatives to report. Everything was excellent.

Terrible accommodations, wonderful staff

The staff was amazing: welcoming, kind and helpful…especially Mr Herrera. The location was close to Hearst Castle the big attraction in the area.

Carpets were sticky. Lamp was dusty and greasy. Shower/tub diverter did not work properly. Tub had air space u derneath and felt like bounce house. Ceiling and walls were so thin could hear neighbors even thought they were not even loud.

A good place to stay before visiting Hearst Castle

The staff was really friendly, the room good for a family, clean and practical. We had a fridge, a microwave, and a TV. Also, the breakfast was fine, and on the whole we had a good stay at this place.

The place is old and hence looks a little bit depressing, but that is okay. It was a little bit noisy in the evening (we could hear people above us), and the mattresses were not firm enough for us. But still, here, the pros outweigh the cons !

Extremely good value, clean, large room, with good breafast and great staff

We stayed here for one night while traveling from Los Angeles to San Francisco, and I wish we had stayed longer. The motel was excellent — our room was huge, with a desk corner and a comfortable sitting area beside the two large beds. Everything was clean, and the room came equipped with a fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. The property had nice pools and a fire pit, which we unfortunately didn’t have time to enjoy. Breakfast was included and easily matched what you’d expect from hotels costing twice as much — eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, English muffins etc. and some of the best coffee I had in the U.S. The room rate was extremely reasonable (as of October 2025), but what really stood out was the exceptional staff. Both gentlemen we met were great and the one who checked us out offered great travel advice, and even gave us three large Snickers bars — the value of which might actually have been a noticeable percentage of the night’s room rate...

The shower faucet was utterly confusing — something between a joystick and a valve — and we never quite figured out how it worked.

It was just what we needed.

It is located close to an event we were attending and it is dog friendly, which is huge for us. There is a wonderful breakfast each morning and the staff is so friendly.

With the restaurant right there, it was difficult to find a parking spot when we’re were coming back in the evening.

Quality inn but not quality coms

Comfy bed, nice bathroom, easy parking

Customer service was dreadful, we wanted to change to a different quality inn due to the big sur being closed. All emails were ignored and telephone calles straight to answer phone which said mail box full. I confronted the receptionist on arrival and he went into verbal diarrhoea, and stated he was too busy to answer emails. Yes I was my own fault for not checking if the coast road was open before booking but communication from the hotel was non existent.

A real gem on the gorgeous Big Sur. You must stay!

Very spacious room with comfortable bed. Great views from balcony with seats. Very clean. Breakfast was delicious with a fantastic choice. Loved the outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Also there was a fire pit.
