Not the same it used to be.

The property is gorgeous. Close to River Park Mall.

They do not have enough staff for their guest at the property. If you’re checking in at 3:30 or four, you can expect very long weight lines of a half an hour or more. The telephone rings to the front desk and really should go to the housekeeping department. It’s one of the errors they’re making. I’ve tried that they have the front desk do too much. I had to call five different times to get the bedding for the pullout couch. The first phone call we made was to get items that we needed for the room that were left. Housekeeping had to come back back-and-forth because they forgot to break the items each time. It took them three trips in over an hour and 15 minutes. Somehow, I got a confirmation that we had three massages. I would not chest their online booking system as when we went for our massages. They had our names somehow in the system, but we were not booked for massages. They were able to give us 60 minute massages instead of 90 minutes the next day. But it was another example of lack of quality I had come to expect from the Davenport. If we need something for housekeeping and put the housekeeping light on , our room is generally not made up until between 430 and 6 o’clock. (Toilet paper towels, etc). We stayed several nights so we need to have replacements for items. The service was extremely slow. The restaurants are pretty good still. The French onion soup is still really great. I did have a hamburger at the peacock and I could barely eat it- it was very salty which is crazy because I usually put too much salt. I only eat part of it and remove the bun that had the extra salt on it. I stayed at the Davenport many times before, but not for the last couple of years at the historic. Qualities has seemed to really go downhill as customer service. Oh, by the way.

This is a very elegant historic hotel, ornately decorated with a fascinating history. Our room was spacious and the beds comfortable. There are lots of little details, like the night light under the counter in the bathroom and even a doorbell just for our room. We enjoyed two dinners in the Palm Court Grill.

Although our room had two beds (so high we had to climb into them) there was only one chair! So only one person had a good place to sit down. Also, we had multiple problems with our key cards and had to go to the desk, wait in line and have them replaced.

Always love the Davenport.

The property is stunning. The rooms are very comfortable.

The new bar in the center of the lobby is very cool - however, it feels like the lobby is lacking places to sit if you are waiting for people or just lounging. Every place in the lobby seems like you need to be a patron of either the restaurant or bar. While I was waiting for friends I had to move twice due to being seated in a place where I couldn’t just sit and wait.

I would suggest looking at the public areas and stay someplace else due to high costs for the room.

The old Hotel is beautiful. Worth just going in to see the Lobby area and main floor. Have a meal or drink . Well worth your time to see but stay elsewhere due to room cost compared to room quality.

The room was very small and several things were not as they should be. Broken toilet seat, alarm clock didn't work and sink that did not drain.

Gorgeous historic hotel

This is a beautiful historic hotel which has been excellently renovated, the ground floor is exceptionally gorgeous. We only stayed one night and didn't eat breakfast in the hotel but I can say that our room was comfortable and clean and there was nothing we could find fault with.

The Historic Davenport Hotel is a gem. Rooms are comfortable with stylish decor matching the age of the hotel and very clean. The hotel has many wonderful amenities and provides unique atmosphere. The staff is friendly.

Go there! Surprisingly it was slightly less than a nearby Best Western!

Very historic and close to Riverside Park. The shower was marvelous! Valet parking and good coffee too. The bar/lobby area looked beautiful and welcoming.

Great stay, sketchy practices

Very nice property- felt historic, but a bit dated in the rooms. The common area was beautiful!

The Davenport added an extra $20 daily facility/resort fee upon check in after I had paid the full charge with Booking.com, which included other fees and city taxes. Davenport then handed me coupons of the same value for each day (i.e. $20 coupon for $20 resort fee), and this seemed very suspicious to me that they were not reporting this fee to Booking.com. I had at least three separate interactions with the front desk who said it was “mandatory,” that this was an acceptable fee and that third party vendors knew about this charge, etc. I had a representative from Booking.com call them directly after told me that there should not be additional charges made after I paid for the hotel. The front desk removed one charge after they talked to the Booking.com rep, did not tell me about the removal of this one charge, and left the charges for the remaining days. What this tells me is that they were trying to pull a fast one on Booking.com and me. Otherwise, the hotel was wonderful, but beware!

Pretty but not comfortable

The beds need replaced. For a place so nice, I was expecting a comfy bed and it was so soft you could slide right off the side. Hubby and I rolled into each other and woke up pretty much sleeping on top of each other. Also there was no refrigerator or microwave? Why? That was strange to me. We like to go out to eat when out of town and we like our leftovers. So that was a big bummer. Also I like having a fan on in the room to block out my family snoring lol and there was no fan so that was a bummer too. It was really a beautiful hotel though. We might check out other ones in the same area next time.

Old and beautiful. Right in downtown. Close to everything

Waited I. Line to check in for over 30 minutes which seems really inefficient for such an expensive hotel. No minibar, no fridge in the room, room service took 45 minutes just for drinks. Pillows are small and flat. Only one robe provided. And house keeping came in and made the bed but didn’t take empty glassware from room service so they just sat in our room for two days. Overall not worth the price we paid.

Unexpectedly disappointing.

The historic building is lovely and well maintained.

The room decor is drab and old. The famous mattress felt old and broken down…pillows lumpy and linens had stains. We requested the sofa bed be made up hours before returning from a show in town, and it was not. We called to request it be made up when we got back and an hour later, at 11:30p we called and cancelled…no one had shown up. Our adult daughter had a very uncomfortable night. There was one disposable coffee cup for 3 people. For over $400 this was shameful. I have stayed here many times and loved it in the past. I won’t stay again.
