    We had a wonderful stay at The Davenport Autograph Collection. The hotel itself is beautiful and really enjoyable to look around. The atmosphere, décor, and overall character of the hotel are excellent, and the pool was also very nice. The location was lovely, and for us, it was absolutely worth paying a little extra to stay somewhere with history and character rather than a typical run-of-the-mill hotel. The Davenport has a unique charm that made the stay feel like more of an experience. Check-in was quite busy when we arrived, so we did have to wait. There was also a small issue with the room. We had booked a Deluxe Room, but the first room we were given was on the sixth floor with a view overlooking the roof, and it had only a shower rather than the shower and separate tub. I went back to the front desk and mentioned that we had specifically booked a Deluxe Room, and the staff member quickly switched us to another room, which we appreciated. One thing that was disappointing was an additional tax charged at check-out. When I booked through ***, the reservation showed “Total Charge: *** – Includes taxes and fees,” so I was under the impression that the amount shown was the total I would pay. There was an additional charge of around $70. I asked about it at the front desk, and the response was that when booking through a third party, not all taxes & fees are necessarily included. I understand that there can be additional local taxes or fees, but I was disappointed because the Agoda booking appeared to indicate that taxes and fees were included. It would be helpful if this were made much clearer at the time of booking. For parking, we chose the self-parking option in the lot across the street. It was easy to access and convenient, and it cost around $28 per day. The breakfast was a definite highlight. Breakfast was included in our rate, so we took advantage of it each morning, and it was an excellent way to start the day. It was a wonderful way to start the day and made the stay feel even more special. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, has lots of character, and is definitely worth exploring. Make sure you book the Autograph Collection rather than the Signature Collection if you want the historic, classic Davenport experience, the Signature is the newer property. Despite the few issues, we would happily stay again.
