Clarion Inn Surfrider Resort

The location was good and the deck overlooking the ocean was nice.

It was really rundown but the worst part was that you could hear the people upstairs moving and walking in the floors were creaking and they were moving furniture and the people next-door you can hear the television. It was like living with 15 people. We actually left early because it was so loud we couldn’t even hear ourselves think. I emailed and asked to get a room on the top floor but I never received a response. For $221 a night it was a rip off!

The location was great!

There was dog hairs in both beds -all throughout the bedding. There is a fireplace heater that gets extremely hot to touch with no signage. My 6 year old burned some of her hair standing in front of it.. the pool is covered by a greenhouse - it’s pretty cold in there, but the kids really enjoyed the pool.

The room size is nice. Looking out the window watching 3ocean is fabulous

The beds were very comfy. The employees were all very helpful and nice.

The pool is in a separate building which is fine, but it was very cold in there. I was bundled with coat and sweatshirt and still shivering. The kids said the pool was pretty cold also. Also they do not have a hot tub anymore. You could hear every footstep the people above us made. It's not very sound proof at all. I could hear my kids just talking when I was outside.

For an ocean view room, you can't beat the price! The bed was comfortable and clean, and the points of contact in the bathroom were clean as well. It was nice to have the DVD player in the room, and although we didn't use the video rental service or check out books from the lobby, it was nice to have that as an option. Although we didn't use it, the fire pit area looked really nice and inviting. I know the hotel is set for a re-do, but clear explanations were given of what amenities were no longer available. I knew pretty well what to expect when we arrived. I would stay here again. Staff members were friendly and helpful.

I know the hotel is set to be torn down, so I was not expecting the moon and stars. That being said, these are the things that I think could maybe be addressed while the current building stands. The lightbulb in our kitchenette area flickered until the bulb warmed up. A bulb replacement will give a better first impression. The upholstery on the furniture could do with a steam cleaning (dark spots from hands on the chair arms). When the entry door is closed, you can see daylight through the gap between the door and the frame. I felt sufficiently safe during our visit, as other guests were not rowdy or ill-behaved, but the door didn't exactly seem secure. The seat on one of the dining chairs completely came off when we moved the chair. Again, simple fix, most likely, and I'm not sure it was anything that could have been prevented. The only thing that could have been a real problem was that we had requested (and, I thought, granted) a ground floor room), but we were given a second floor room. It ended up not being an issue, as our 3rd guest who needed the ground floor canceled on us. And, maybe if we had asked, the room may have been available. But, I had expected that to be ready to go upon arrival. That being said, however, I would stay here again, as the room was clean and affordable and we had a nice stay.

Not very clean. Bathrooms need a deep clean and pillows were really bad! Lumpy and small.

Price and view were great. Room was spacious. Fire place worked Loved the size of the room. Room was well stocked for out four day stay.

Pool area was dimly lit 9/12 lights burned out. Women’s shower not functional torn apart. No toilet paper in restroom. Roofing was blowing off building 1 in the wind. Some rooms had screen doors some did not. Fire place worked in our room and didn’t in my other families room.

I decided to stay another night and got a discount without going back on booking.

The ocean view warmth and the set up

The room, while definitely showing the expected signs of wear for how old the resort is, was very clean. The ocean view was fantastic. Keurig, mini fridge and microwave are very convenient. Front desk staff was friendly.

There was mold when you open your back door and there's a 2nd door to open to go on your deck overlooking the ocean. The mold was so thick and bad I got sick.

Dirty room floors walls plaster everywhere unclean scratched dirty flooring. Rusty heaters fly dust everywhere. I have about 20 photos of the conditions.

Couldn’t see the oven with the railing in the chairs, deck above leaked, couldn’t enjoy being outside when raining, bed Uncomfortable. Room very plan almost prison cell, everything shut down, no Handicap parking only for wheel chair access, hot tub didn’t get hot, windows would not latch close. Just terrible all the way around. Came down for gf birthday had a miserable time in the room. Didn’t want to stay. We stayed other places to relax. Room was not relaxing at all

Location was great, view, easy check in and out.

First off the place is old. New paint on the outside but it's just old. I don't even know where to start. I'm irritated that I paid so much money for a place that truly doesn't care. One of the beds has spring poking us, the Jacuzzi tub didn't work, the room was dirty and the sheets had sand in them.

We have been staying at the Clarion for years. Due to them closing soon to do a huge reconstruction, the facilities have been not maintained very well. Lots of wear & tear. With that being said, the room was comfortable, the view is amazing, and Shane at the front desk is always welcoming and friendly. We will continue to visit until they close!

That it is being demolished for probably a much more pricier resort.

Filthy rooms. Faulty fans and heaters.The Web site is a lie. Staff blames Booking.com. We paid way to much for a flea bag motel. Booking.com misrepresented this place. If need to be contacted by Booking.com to sort this out. Someone will be held accountable for this.

The main reason we stayed here is because it is close to Lincoln City, Depot Bay and Newport and it's oceanview.

The room was very dirty. We asked numerous times to have it cleaned but nope. Complained to 3rd party services and received only partial refund.

The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable, loved the beach access and how private it felt.

If you’re on the bottom floor you will hear anytime someone is walking above you. If you’re a light sleeper I highly suggest requesting a top floor room.

I’d like to be contacted by booking.com as the hotel wasn’t as advertised and there were significant issues that didn’t match the cost. Window to see ocean had the seal of the window broken so the cloudy glass made the ocean unable to be seen. Room was musty moldy and I wouldn’t take a bath as it was deep dirty. Rusted windows that opened out, but wouldn’t prevent someone from coming in, but the smell warranted them open continually.

Rooms are old, walls patched up, floors dirty, no screens on windows or doors to the balconies, rails and stairs full of dry rot (ie: a shingle covering a hole in the stairs), the pool area and pool full of mold, laundry facilities out of order, playground nonexistent, and restaurant, bar and exercise room closed permanently. Sheet given upon check-in letting you know the resort is to be closed down. Manager is extremely rude!! I paid $339 per night each for 5 rooms. No reimbursement or my offer to pay a lower fee for the rooms, would be accepted. I also had no luck with my calls and correspondence to Choice Hotels (just a stipend of points given instead of a refund). The pictures posted online are very old! I was scammed!!

The hotel has amazing ocean front views and the rooms are large and very comfortable. Also loved the patio!

Overall the property needs some updating.

The view is phenomenal! The rooms are very spacious. The sound of the ocean is calming, and the hotel grounds are mostly quiet.

It really needs a good deep cleaning.
