Park Inn by Radisson, Salt Lake City Downtown

The hotel is conveniently located with easy access to transportation. The new, non-carpet-laid floors are highly recommended. The rooms are spacious with ample luggage space, new tables and chairs, and plenty of charging outlets. The front desk staff are friendly. The cold water flow is very weak from venity sink , and the water temperature cannot be adjusted, it is too hot when washing up. The room does not provide a refrigerator and hairdryer. If you can tolerate the intermittent, thunderous noise from the air conditioning, its convenience and price make it worth recommending.

First off, this “Park Inn” is just a Motel 6. I have had fine experiences at other Motel 6’s around the country, so it’s not a big a deal, but I felt misled when I put in the address and found myself at a Motel 6. I arrived after dark and the premises were swarming with what looked like homeless people. There was a man at the top of the stairs yelling on his phone, a bunch of people loitering in the parking lot, and a man idling in his car in the front lot who was watching me as I walked up to check-in. I figured that I had already paid for my room, so even though I felt unsafe, I would just stay for one night and get out as soon as possible. Overall, you get the impression that this is not a safe place to stay. The attendant at the front lobby is behind a glass barrier, probably to keep them safe from all of the people loitering around. You have to sign forms acknowledging that they have told you to lock up your room and your valuables. When I arrived at the room, there were more signs reminding me to keep the room locked up for my safety. So you can imagine how I felt when I turned to lock the door and found that both the regular door lock AND the deadbolt were broken. There was no way to lock the door. In addition, the main room lights were not working. In the quick survey of the room, it seemed fairly clean but I did not do a deep inspection before I decided I was not going to stay at this place for the night. I even felt unsafe leaving my car in the lot. I was told by the front desk attendant that there were no refunds, which I understand is not her fault, but I feel is unprofessional of the company given that I left because I felt genuinely unsafe and not because I just changed my mind last minute for no reason. Overall, I would not recommend staying here. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay where you will feel safe and taken care of, I ended up staying at the hostel in the Evo hotel and had a very comfortable night. I ended up paying half of what I paid for this room and felt very safe and was able to use clean facilities and even a rock climbing wall! Overall: Skip this place, there are better options.
