This rental unit was HUGE and so well kept. Everything was thought of from providing a cooler for day trips to free bea

It was beautifully landscaped and felt very safe. All the units were like little cottages. The pool area was beautiful and well kept.

The only downside is that it’s on the northern side of the island so it takes two hours to get to any activities you have planned on the western side. The units are also open air which means no A/C but they did provide fans and had ceiling fans as well. With the venting for the open air to circulate it did allow for the local roosters to keep us awake throughout the night, sometimes starting with their crowing at 1AM. I would highly recommend ear plugs or a sound machine just in case you’re a light sleeper!

A relaxing and comfortable stay with friendly staff and a beautiful environment.

The staff were very warm, attentive, and provided thoughtful service. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the surrounding environment was beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. In the evenings, I could even hear the sound of the ocean outside the window, which made the stay especially enjoyable.

Overall, it was a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

I love that we had our own apartment. Comfortable bed and a full kitchen. Shower had great water pressure. Beautiful grounds. Also the staff was very friendly

The room is very spacious and the price is reasonable.

The insulation is a disaster. The window is in very old style and could not be fully closed. There are MANY CHICKEN outside and they are crowing all night. The sound is so loud from 2am to 7am and we are waked by the rooster all the time.

Great stay at Makai Club Resort, bring earplugs

The staff was so nice and helpful with any request we had. The size of the rooms were top tier, it felt nice to be separate from our friends in the 2 bed and 2 bath situation. The pool was nice and warm as well.

I know it’s a limitation of the buildings, but in August the 2 bedrooms really want AC. Luckily a cold shower cools us down! Because of the way the windows are set up for airflow, the roosters are really loud. And I mean loud, and at 3-5AM. Bring earplugs!

I felt like I was my own slice of the island with all the items we needed to rent to make our days/activities there fun. We’d definitely go back.

We didn't know what to expect when we arrived and left wanting to come back soon!

The Makai Club Resort was wonderful for our family! The cottage was large, clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities needed for a family of 5. The staff was wonderful. They were accommodating, friendly, and always available to help anyway possible. The grounds are manicured to perfection and the pool/bbq area were amazing. We will be back again! Thank you, Makai Club Resort!

Highly recommend this property and am sharing with friends who plan to travel to Kauai next year.

The staff was VERY helpful. The space was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Location was great for the things we did. Appreciated that they had beach chairs to use throughout the week. We did not use any of the following but if we had been there with our children and grandchildren were: Book, games and DVD's.

The couch cushions could use a bit of an upgrade.

Very big room and lounge and kitchen. Beautiful grounds and lovely views. Nice and helpful staff. Great to have a washing and drying machine in room as the island is very muddy!

Not sure how the cleaning system works there. I tidied and through out the garbage each day. Tiny pool.

Relaxing, friendly

Lady at reception on my arrival was the nicest staff member I met since arriving in Hawaii, almost 2 weeks ago and having stayed in 3 different places already. Welcoming, informative and humorous! Bed extremely comfortable. Room 10/10 for cleanliness. AC and fan perfect. Parking right outside and free. Fridge, coffee maker and microwave in room very handy. The grounds of the hotel are pretty and well maintained.

No cutlery in room.

The unit was relatively- but had a musty odor. The living room furnishings needed cleaning, curtains andfan need replacing Bathroom showers needs deep cleaning, and shower rod needs ti be lifted higher so it does not sit in water Carpet had not been vacuumed Swimming pool- ok Barbecue ‘s were disgusting Not sound proof from upper unit- old facility ( water running, flushing of toilets, just standard walking) this might be a deal breaker as well as mustiness

Seek restoration elsewhere

Pretty but too noisy. Sound carries across the valley. 10 PM quiet hour and staff will not do anything to reduce noise before then including screaming, and loud conversations from the pool or other patios. Staff said the beach was a five minute walk – it’s a 12 minute drive. Impossible to get rest here with the many roosters crowing from 4:30 AM until 7:30 AM constantly. Beds were uncomfortable and caused pain for both of us in separate rooms. One of them you could actually roll off of if you tried to sleep in the middle. Staff offered to change them out after we said we were leaving early. Too little too late

Convenient Condo in Princeville

The condo had everything we needed for a one week stay- the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, etc.

The jacuzzi was tiny! The pool was okay but also fairly small. The only real issue was how noisy it was- you could hear people coming and going all the time. I guess it was because of the way the condos were built with windows that opened, but it was really difficult in the morning as people were going out and you could hear every single sound.

Loved Kauai, resort was sufficient for our needs, a place to sleep, shower and prepare food.

Location was central to many activities in the area. Kitchen was helpful for us as we prepared many of our own meals. The grounds were well kept. Room was comfortable. Wifi was extremely helpful. Staff was friendly.

Three levels, no elevator. Shower water was cold everyday. When we inquired. We were told we were only the 3rd level and we should take showers early in the day. They only do cleaning if you stay 10 nights (we stayed 9) but they provided limited supplies for cleaning yourself and who wants to do that on your vacation.

Booked for 5 days but ended up staying for 7

Great place. Not at all close to a beach unless you have a car. In fact unless you have a car, its difficult to stay here. But the room with a full kitchen was amazing. They don't have maid service but they had a broom and a vacuum cleaner in the room should you need it. Washing machine and dryer is well needed after spending all day on the beach. Located right behind a golf course so in the mornings its awesome to just go for a walk. I actually liked the roosters. Their crowing reminded me of old and simpler times. If you walk to the reception you can get beach chairs, board games and books for the length of your stay. There is a Foodland about a 2 minute drive away along with a place for shave ice. Loved the Cardinals and other birds that visited every morning. There were a few hiccups but overall I really liked the place, we ended up extending our stay for a full 7 days.

concierge was crap. They have a number you can call coz it is not on-site. their voice mail keeps saying that they are at the beach and will call you back. I called a number of times and they never called me back. As it was our first time on the island, it would have been great to talk to someone who would have told us what to do and where to find the closest things. But we had to figure it out ourselves. That was really annoying. The room had no hot water. The water was mildly warm. We complained many times about it. They apologized but never fixed it. When the guy actually came to check it out, he told me that the hot water runs out because they had 3 guys living on the ground floor (??!?!?). I told him the water is cold no matter what time of day. Then he came back to tell me that it was for my own safety that the water was supposed to be cold...because i could burn myself (???!!!?!?!?). That was the one thing we really enjoyed after leaving Makai Club - a hot shower!!! You have to clean up the unit before you leave or you will get charged a cleaning fee. But that was okay. We were of course warned at check in that if we stain the beach towels, we will incur a fine. But I had already read that in the previous reviews so it was fine. Beach towels were returned stainless and clean :)

The resort provided my wife and I with a wonderful, relaxing stay for our anniversary.

The condo buildings are well apart from one another, separated by large, beautifully landscaped lawn areas. We could see Hanalei Falls in the distance from our balcony. The resort was quiet and relaxing during our weeklong stay. The staff members were knowledgeable and friendly. Juan, the young man who checked us in, gave us a thorough orientation and made us feel welcome. Upon learning our 44th wedding anniversary was coming up during our visit, Juan went into another room and returned with a bottle of wine for us -- a nice surprise for the start of our stay. The resort offers complimentary use of beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, and bicycles, and rents out swim gear at a reasonable price. It also is a short distance from the road to the Princeville Shopping Center and Hanalei Bay, and to the walking path on the north side of the Makai golf course.
