Residence Inn by Marriott Salt Lake City Downtown

It honestly was the worst hotel experience I've ever had! I booked a 2 bedroom suite so that 2 friends and I could each have our own space while still staying together. There were a lot of plugs that didn't work, there were only 2 remotes for 3 tvs and the tv in the master bedroom was mostly static, when the 3rd person arrived to stay on the pull-out sofa bed there was a big stain on the mattress and a huge sag as well and when she laid on it you could only feel springs. So, she ended up just sleeping on the sofa itself, which wasn't great. The beds weren't great either, they felt like sleeping on the floor. I get that everyone has their own taste of mattress and some people like super firm, so if that was it, it would be one thing, but it was one thing after another. The second to last day I noticed a wet spot on the ceiling in the master bedroom that looked like the size of a bathtub...I'm assuming there was a major leak in the room above that one, but I was terrified that it was going to burst in the middle of the night and kill my bird that was set right underneath there, so I moved him for that last night. We did bring up how terrible the sofa bed mattress was to the staff, but the first person we mentioned it to did nothing. When we spoke with the manager about it he suggested moving to another room, but it would've entailed us repacking and unpacking before the next group of people checked-in that day, which would've meant us missing some of the convention that we were there for and that was just a further inconvenience for us that wasn't worth it, especially since we really didn't see it being much better, given the condition of the regular mattresses. So, take this review for what it is, but my personal opinion is that suite at the very least needed to be shut down for repairs. Although personally I believe that the entire place should have been reviewed, because I can guarantee that if our suite had THAT much wrong with it, there are clearly other things that are falling through the cracks and they don't have a proper checklist in place to find things that need replacing or fixed before they turn into bigger issues! I was also told at checkout that I would be compensated either with points or a break (given I was talking to someone who was young) I opted for the points, but it never happened!
