Best Western Plus Abbey Inn

We were just passing through on our 2.5 week roadtrip. The previous 2 hotels we stayed in did not meet our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with this hotel. It was everything we’ve come to expect in a comfortable nights stay! Keep up the good work! You w got our repeat business for sure!!

Unusually, we chose this hotel based on its breakfast reviews, so that we would have a wide selection. The location is perfect, with Zion just 90 minutes away, Las Vegas Airport two hours away, and natural wonders such as the Valley of Fire and the Grand Canyon close by. Unfortunately, our experience was different from that of most people. We had a large 27 m² room. When we entered, we were hit by an unpleasant, unidentifiable smell (a mixture of mustiness, cigarettes and dogs). Even my husband, whose sense of smell was affected by having had Covid, was surprised and said it smelt bad. I thought turning on the air conditioning would ventilate the room with fresh air. However, when I turned it on, it only worked a little. So we went to get all our things out of the car. When we had finished, however, someone outside started smoking and the smell of cigarettes wafted into our room (our window faced the back entrance). It was our last night before flying to Europe, though, and we had over 20 shopping bags and four suitcases in the room. It didn't make sense to go to the front desk to complain and possibly get a room change. Moving everything to another room would have taken forever. I was the dispatcher. I turned off the air conditioning, waited 20 minutes, turned it on again and checked that the air was clean and didn't smell of cigarettes. The interior of the room looked quite outdated. Breakfast is great for meat and egg eaters. There was a selection of cooked and cold items, as well as an omelette station where you could have an omelette made to your liking. For vegans, however, there was only fruit. Vegetarians like me missed vegetables and proper cheese. There was only cream cheese. I would have appreciated some fresh bread and pastries that weren't sweet. Some hotels in Germany, for example, have bakeries and bake fresh pastries for breakfast using basic ingredients - flour, salt, water, sourdough or yeast. This bread has been baked around the world for thousands of years without any sugar, preservatives, emulsifiers, stabilisers or colouring. Things were not often refilled. For example, I waited about 15 minutes for doughnuts. In the lobby near the reception desk, there was a proper coffee machine where you could choose decaf coffee, cappuccino, and so on. We didn't experience the Unwind Hour that people rave about in their reviews (we were there on a Monday), but that was probably because we arrived late and didn't even know it existed.

I usually book with a different hotel each trip, just to keep things fun, but I think this will be the one we book with from now on! The breakfast is incredible! They serve it from 6am - 10am and keep the food filled, warm, and have so many options the duration of breakfast (which I have yet to see at comparable places)! The staff is so friendly and can be easily located! The pool is a good size, clean, and the water was a nice temperature. The hot tub is nice and hot with multiple jets (all working) and it is a nice, spacious layout! Towels are easily available in the pool area and kept stocked. Our room is spacious, has a little area with a sink, microwave, cabinets, mini-fridge with freezer, and coffee maker (they provide coffee pods), a tv, chair, desk with chair, bench, beds, nightstand and dresser, and the room is the perfect temperature! They also have a complimentary hydration station where you can fill up water (hot and cold) or grab some coffee or hot cocoa! I am excited to check out there complimentary 5-7pm where they serve drinks and snacks! I am so happy with this place. Also I brought a black light with me and have zero complaints about findings.
