The Eagle Mountain House was once a grand hotel. While it's location is beautiful and the legacy is there, the hotel shows its age. Let's start with the good! The view is amazing. As a hiker, I could stair at the mountains for hours, especially the view of Carter Notch. The line of rocking chairs on the porch invite relaxation (but you can't bring your own drink?!) The walk to Jackson Falls is short and the falls are wonderful. The grounds are well maintained. The smores and popsicles are a nice touch shared by many hotels in the area. Overall the hotel was clean and comfortable! The bed was wonderful. The water pressure was strong. What more could I ask for? Maybe my expectations were just too high? Or the last Jackson grand hotel I stayed in was too good? We were given a room on the porch as a "Mountain view" room. It was too low to see the mountain and had sheer curtains so guests on the porch could see in. We were given a wool blanket to cover the window. No view... I was never asked if I was there for an occasion (my anniversary) or how my stay was. They didn't want to know. The heat and sprinkler system is run in view and is dirty. There are water stains on the walls and ceiling. We turned on the window air conditioner as white noise to cover the sounds of other guests. The welcome cookie came in plastic and was not fresh backed. I sound like I'm complaining. If you really like golf or the views, book a room. The hotel is comfortable and adequate by many measures. You'll have a fine stay. But if you are looking for something special, look elsewhere.

We semi-enjoyed our stay at the hotel, but quality and cleanliness were mediocre at best. Location was decent. But once we were hit with the $25/night "amenity fee" the day we checked out (for really no amenities), we were feeling pretty sour about the already overpriced and low quality stay. Terrible communication and attitude from the staff overall. Such a disappointment!

We’ve been coming to the area since 1963, when it was all boarded up…. I always wanted to stay and finally did so over Christmas… it… was … perfect!!! The staff was the best… the food was fabulous and great portions, and the rooms were so quaint and original… I’m hoping renovations don’t ever take the original charm out of this historic Inn… I will be back!!!!

I only stayed for one night, as we were stopping here before heading to the White Mountains the next day. Among many hotel choices, I picked this one mainly because of the reasonable price — and it turned out to be an unexpectedly delightful stay. The room had a classic, elegant style, and the surroundings were beautiful with fresh, clean air. The staff were very friendly toward my child, which I truly appreciated. My child especially loved the hotel’s vintage elevator — the kind you see in old movies where you close the gate by hand! It added such a unique and memorable touch to our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
