Gîte du Haut des Arbres

Nice location - pool area small but nice. We knew the hire was out of town and enjoyable for that. There was a full shared kitchen which we made use of - excellent.

Only point was no daily bathroom clean, which would not have been a problem if products were available to do it ourselves.

View was spectacular - place was clean and newly remodeled

Bathroom was a little tight / small

Room was nice and clean, with big windows opening up on great views. Ensuite bathroom very clean and comfortable. Our room was in the adjacent building, which sits a little higher than the main building. Grounds are well groomed, and seems quite enjoyable (we didn't have time to use the grounds)

The Sound insulation is quite poor, had to spend part of the night with the guest in the next room that was having serious coughing spells. Maybe he/she was having issues with the serious wildfire smog that unfortunately covered the Saguenay region at that time. It was actually so bad we decided to flee south to get away from that smog, even though we had reserved and paid for 2 nights. Too bad management didn't think it was sufficient grounds for reimbursing the 2nd night.

It was very clean.

It is hard to write this review because negative is not my style. Although the view was lovely, I am certainly glad we were not there during peak period. We were in the room called "La Chic" and it's location was VERY disappointing. It had a large window but the pool-hot tub (closed) was directly outside our window (mere steps away from our window). Had it been in use, our curtains would have had to have been closed the entire time for any privacy. The room was at the bottom of the steps directly below the reception/family's living area so felt we were in the basement of their home. The bathroom (although lovely and spotless!) was across the hall, so again, felt extremely exposed. Certainly not ideal for seniors especially in the middle of the night. I did message the number given to me to contact if we had any concerns and asked if there was another room available should someone should cancel, but received no response. The room beside us called "La Suite" (did not see inside) had outside access as well as a covered area with chairs, etc for sitting outside and enjoying the view. Needless to say, I was jealous that we were not given that opportunity. However, when the guests were enjoying it, they could see into our room if they turned towards it, so again ... had to keep the curtains on that side closed. We did not feel we could have use of it without interfering with their privacy The room was modern, the bed comfortable and very clean. However, no chairs to relax in. Only a small table with 2 bar chairs. The TV received very few channels and was small. The gentleman who helped us was pleasant enough but did not speak English so was hard to communicate. I always felt I was bothering him and annoying him because I do not speak French. So, all in all, a very disappointing experience. We did our best to fill our days in the beautiful Saguenay area so as not to be in our room until the evening.
