It was convenient and although more of a motel than a hotel it felt safe and everyone the seemed to be travelers

I could have used an elevator. The cement staircase was noisy as people went up and down at night

I am loathe to say anything + because it was the worst place I have ever stayed at, but it is close to some good restaurants. However, I sadly spent the whole next day trying to get my problems resolved with the hotel and then finding/booking and having to pay for another hotel for the same 2 nights because they would not be honorable and refund my money for the next 2 nights I had already pre-paid based on the good rating, which is comical. I was in town to visit my mom in an assisted living for Alzheimer's so am familiar with the area, grew up in this town.

Dirty disgusting sheets, someone vaping in room next to me during the night and early morn, and they wouldn't do anything--I started feeling asthmatic after no breathing problems for 6 years--scary not being able to breathe, thick thick duster on heater (a rare cold night in that area) There was also a strong smell of mold coming from the bathroom. The dirty sheets- I went to bed bit late (after the 10:00 time the office closes) and when I pulled the covers down, there was hair (multiple) and dirt. It was very disgusting. I just slept on top of the bed. Extremely rude and unprofessional person running the office. He was both my check in and the morning person who refused to help me or even listen to what was happening. Less troublesome but still bad was the intense sound of the beach road PCH running by the hotel. And the place was run down- old yucky carpets in halls, large stain on wall as walk in. And shower head broken. (I learned that they rent their rooms to people who actually live there) The hotel had no vacancy, so I was hopeful when I went in right when the office opened next morn at 7 AM (although there was nobody there) but around 8 or so, talked with the "manager" who wouldn't even let me finish explaining what was happening. He started yelling and telling me he couldn't help me. It was surreal. I was hoping that because of all the problems and the vaping (because it seems they also have people who live there and hotel guests) that I could get released from the 2nd and 3rd night I had booked but he would not. Or even something like "IF we can book it we will return your money" He just kept yelling that I had t to resolve it with booking.com. I called booking.com several times and after being routed thru their new AI system many times, finally reached a live person who hung up on me but they did say the hotel had to refund, not them.

Close proximity to the beach. Comfortable pillows. Large size room.

Well, someone hit our car in the parking lot, not a lot of damage but there weren't working cameras and the staff didn't seem to care. We were told it "would buff out". I'd most likely find somewhere different to stay next visit.

Room was good , price excellent.

Stairway leading up to rooms was filthy. Concrete painted grey but all kinds of stains from spilled drinks and dirt.

I liked how quiet it was despite being on a main highway. I also liked being a hop from the beach

Dirty towels, the outside is a bit unappealing, rooms need better dusting

Room was clean and the staff were super friendly.

Other guests kept propping the stairwell outside door open so we did NOT feel safe during those nights. It wasn't the property managers fault per se but they should have a way to monitor that and keep them shut or issue enough keys for larger groups if that was the issue. Cameras should catch guests who do this and warnings issued. This hotel is on a busy street and anyone could have wandered in there with the doors open.
