Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa

Beautiful venue I would imagine years ago but let go to a point that it needs so much work to be a “resort”. Long drive from PEI to get there and looked forward to the outdoor “heated” pool as stated online. I ask at check in the water temp and that it was heated as advertised and the front desk said “yeah heated by the sun” and laughed. Elevator …out of order main equipment in gym …out of order printer …out of order and the beautiful view from the main level had furniture that was so old with dirty stained cushions. Breakfast was the best thing and was very good.

Though I received confirmation of our 1King + 1Queen sofa pull-out, during check-in, was given standard/basic. Front desk employee (Jada) assigned us a room that can only be accessed by stairs. She didn’t even take us there, just pointed to its general direction. It turned out to be a basement or ‘Mezanine level’; no elevator access. As a person with a disability, it was a terrible start. Bell boy was unavailable to assist w/ luggage either. When I spoke w/ Jada, she was extremely rude. Laughing/smirking when I asked for assistance w/ incorrect room & help w/ heavy suitcases. This occurred in front of several employees. I had to firmly tell her that none of this was funny for me. Luckily my child was strong enough to lift our belongings at main entrance + then down the stairs to get to our room. Spoke to evening Manager (Marta) ~10pm. Showed her my confirmation details. She offered us either: a small room w/ single beds or the only available cottage left. We opted for cottage (thinking cottage = space we needed… only to find it infested w/ ants/bugs + broken AC + a phone that couldn’t connect to front desk). We were too tired at this point (10:52pm by the time we could re-pack & shown small room etc). So we accepted defeat. Day 3 ~930-11am: we packed our things & moved back to main hotel. Marta assured me she’d handle the inconvenient transition. Unfortunately, when we checked-in @ front, AGAIN, another room w/ only 1 bed was assigned. Because of all the chaos, we missed breakfast that we paid for/chose to include with our package. Actually, we were turned away for breakfast despite many people still seated/dining?!?! If we didn’t have to wait for proper room to be given, we wouldn’t have missed it. Staff didn’t even offer us to take a quick bite to go - Just locked the door after telling us that they’re clearing the food. My boy only wanted to get a piece of toast or a muffin that could sustain him until lunch. After to speaking to Chad & describing our atrocious experiences, he was able to give us the room we paid for. He offered us a dinner voucher. Honestly one of the only professional employees we encountered at this property… As well as our kind server @ Churchill’s dinner (Aurora). We’ve travelled all over the East Coast this summer and have visited several countries before. This resort was easily one of the worst experiences we’ve had during our travels. I asked 3 other families who frequent Digby Pines. They said they’ve faced similar situations as us. Some have even described it as watching a sinking ship. Apparently things are only getting worse as the property is currently up for sale. Sincerely hope that whomever purchases it can breathe some life back into it. There is so much potential in this historical place… but only if it can be cared/managed in correct hands. Hartley Family

We finally got a chance to visit and we were not disappointed. We had a room in the main building (there are also cabin options on the grounds). The pool was a little on the chilly side for a "heated pool" but nice all the same. There is not a whole lot of lounge furniture so be prepared to perhaps not have a seat. Dinner and the buffet breakfast in the dining room were both excellent and very reasonable. The rooms have been updated and the bed was exceptional. There were a lot of extra activities to participate in. A little disappointed that the class in the pool doesn't start until 11:00 am so if you are only there for one night you miss out. All in all a great stay.

We stayed one night while in transit. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Friendly and attentive staff. Room was small but comfortable. Great value for what we paid.
