Very comfortable beds. The restaurant is exceptional with well prepared dishes and very good selection of BC wines - a real gem that is highly recommended. Also a fun pub that has a good kitchen.

We should have skipped it and stayed somewhere else.

On the second night we ate at the pub/restaurant and the food and staff in there were great. The art and general design is unique and quite nice.

Front desk check in woman was disorganized, abrasive, and unprofessional. The restaurant was closed the night we got there and the pub was set up for a private event. Neither of these were advised at time of booking or arrival. We got our own food to take back to our room to realize that they don’t even have microwaves in the room.The shower floor was clearly not installed properly and was very loud when you moved and felt like the floor was going to cave in. We had to take the toilet lid off to manually force the tank to fill in order to flush. The TV was set up so you could only use your own accounts like Netflix etc, couldn’t even watch local news. The price isn’t worth it, you get nothing but a bed to sleep in.

Not a good experience.

The location.

We were disappointed with the level of service at reception. The staff member we interacted with was uncommunicative and discourteous. Despite requesting room cleaning earlier in the day, it had not been completed by the time we returned that evening. When we asked to change rooms, there was no acknowledgment of the oversight or any effort to make amends. While the room was eventually changed, it caused inconvenience—we had to move all our belongings and our puppy experienced unnecessary stress. The checkout process was also delayed due to a system glitch, adding to the frustration. There was a different person at the reception who thankfully took some decisions and closed out the process as we had to drive back all the way to Nanaimo for our ferry. Additionally, the hot water was unavailable due to boiler issues, which had not been communicated to us in advance. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations and reflected poor service.

Satisfactory with comfortable bed.

Breakfast started too late for us to eat before having to leave for the ferry. Some kind of bagged breakfast sandwich or something like that would sure be a nice thing to be offered at check-in or check-out

The bannock on the salmon bannock burger was so tough I could not cut it with a knife and could barely bite through it. This was at the pub. The walls were thin between our room and the neighbours.

We enjoyed the comfort and decor of the Kwah"lilas. We would stay there again in a future visit.

Impressive soon as you walk in the main doors. Beautiful traditional artwork all over the lobby. The staff is incredibly professional and helpful. The hotel was spotless, clean and fresh. The pub was great for shooting some pool or watching some highlights. Also had great staff.

There wasn't a lot we didn't like about this hotel, I will be stretching to find something. One thing we didn't like was the scent in the elevator, it wasn't a bad smell, just a strong air freshener. The other stretch was the low water pressure.

Close to the ferry upon disembarking. Friendly and helpful staff

The attached restaurant/pub was great until our last day, we sat in the restaurant for 35 minutes in the morning and no one acknowledged us. I went up twice to ask for menus and service. I also showed them where we were sitting. Three other tables were seated and served after us…..we finally got up and left. Rotten way to end our first visit to Port Hardy

Beautiful hotel with Indigenous touches, well located. Dining room was fantastic.

The hotel is beautiful, a real cultural icon. The pub atmosphere was okay but the food was good. The dining room was exceptional in design, service and food. The lobby had some beautiful Indigenous Art.

The room was clean when we arrived, a little bit of a cleaning supply smell but aired out nicely with the window open. Daily cleaning could have been better; make both beds even though one looked semi made, empty garbage etc. Was disappointed that their Art Gallery/Museum had limited hours, closed at 4 pm and not open on weekends.

Really helpful staff when arriving at 1am and all ready for us. There was plenty of time for sleep in before breakfast finished serving and our check out time. Lovely comfortable room.

It is unusual to use fire doors to get from your corridor to the main part of the hotel - no signage for directions back to reception.

One of the best stays in Northern Vancouver Island

We had a warm welcome from the front staff and relaxing nights after hours of adventure in the hotel. We were also happy with having breakfast at the hotel, so we could leave early for our adventures, considering Port Hardy does not have much options to offer.

The restaurant menu had limited options, and they were a bit pricey.

Little trouble with the booking - in a beautiful hotel

Beautiful hotel, clean, comfortable and a very nice breakfast too.

We had trouble with the night check in staff member who kept insisting we had not paid (it was paid on booking and I kept showing him this) yet he insisted it wasn’t paid and asked for multiple payments on our various cards. We kept requesting for more help from a manager but he refused our repeated requests. In the end we paid over $1000 CAD for one night. It was late and we were exhausted but this took a long time. The next morning when we tried to resolve it and there was no record of us even staying there at all, very concerning. The morning staff and the manager handled everything for us really well and the charges were reversed. I understand sometimes staff need support, so I’m only mentioning this in case it happens to another guest. The hotel is amazing and everything else was amazing. Hopefully the same doesn’t happen again.
