Very disappointed! Felt someone else was given our room so we were given a smaller one . I

We got the email with the door code while we were driving so couldn’t get the code until we got internet access. Drove to our room and someone else was parked there. Didn’t know where the office was to get code. Finally saw a lady walking who worked there and showed us where the office was. I had booked a deluxe bungalow. We got an email a few days before we arrived saying our suite was #125 and showed no stairs outside. Room we were given was #133 several steps going to main landing and another set of stairs to main level. We were travelling with 2 people in their mid 80’s that found the stairs a challenge. Also we were sent an email that showed a picture of #125 and the living room looked bigger than the room we were given and above the picture it said you have reserved the following property. Also prior to our arrival I phoned Booking.com to speak to someone about our room and got AI they said I would have to speak to our host. I phoned her on a Saturday and had to leave a message and didn’t hear from her, so phoned her again on Sunday and had to leave another message. She never did return my call.

All things considering I would stay here again if I was in the area

Really liked the separation on each level, the view is spectacular, and the decks were enjoyable as as well as the hot tub

They encourage people to take off their shoes when you first walk in, but with six people in the house, there is not enough room to take off your shoes without stepping on the carpet. The carpet needs to be ripped out and Lino or tile should be added..

Subtle Snapshot of Westcoast

It was wonderful in almost every way. The decor and layout of the condo was lovely. It was bright & the ocean views, a bit in the distance, were beautiful from both patios!! The place was very well stocked and exceptionally clean. It's a great location for nature & subtlety. Loved this place!! I would return with family and friends for a retreat.

One thing is to call the Sooke Harbour Resort phone number if your door code is not supplied at check-in; a simple mistake & quickly addressed. Just to know, it'd be helpful to talk to locals about walking & hiking paths. For example, I don’t recommend walking along the main road with high traffic to get to the ocean boardwalk; it's a very narrow path & no sidewalks.

Nice location with view of the water. New vinyl plank flooring throughout so very clean. Lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful with local information regarding restaurants and activities/attractions.

An amazing stay at Sooke for our first visit to Vancouver Island.

Everything exceeded our expectations, the accommodation was clean, good quality bedding and towels provided. There was a communal hot tub which was a bonus!

Toiletries were not topped up There was some random beeping which we could not figure out as nothing was in use at night during the last few days.

Nice location, but the ants were too much.

The location was great. The kitchen had everything needed.

The carpenter ants throughout the unit. I killed so many of them, theres pictures of groups of them in the bathroom, they were found in my bed, luggage and ceiling. I wrote about having someone come by to change the traps I also mentioned that they shouldn't bring in an exterminator because that would put us out of a place to stay with only a couple days left. I never heard back if a maintenance person ever did come in, but the traps are not doing their job. I also let them know where to find the ants and where they're coming from so they can get an exterminator in to deal with the issue for the next group of people.

Awesome we will be back and tell everyone of our great experience at Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina

It was great working with Jennifer in the office, she was very accommodating. We had an awesome supper at the West Coast Grill at the Prestige. We had a great kayaking experience at West Coast Outdoor Adventures. We had a great lunch at Route 14 in Sooke and a great breakfast at Cathy's Cafe also in Sooke. We picked up some groceries at the Villages Market in Sooke - it is like home made food like my mother makes.

Had a pet odour almost like damp dog. Maybe some candles to use would be nice. Might be handy to remove carpet in entrance way. Becomes tedious removing shoes and it is already considerably marked.

Location was great. Unit was nice and comfortable. Enjoyed meeting "Da Boss" ... she was a cutie!

No dish towel, no sponge. No batteries in a couple of remotes in the basement, so unable to watch TV there. Very loud "flushing" sounds can be heard. Basement bathroom door does not lock Night table lamp cord is not long enough to plug in.

Gorgeous view and spacious property!

The view was beautiful and the home was very spacious. We had a great time sitting on the patio and watching the waves. We saw about 8 seals while hanging out on the dock, it was lovely!

Remember to bring a dish scrubber. A few dish washer tablets and dish soap is available, however there is no scrubber. Also remember to bring laundry detergent if you plan to use it, only one table was available and you had to pay for extra supplies.

Property was comfortable and suited our purposes generally, but could do with a refresh.

Location was very good for exploring Sooke and vicinity, linens were clean, beds comfortable (did not use hide-a-bed but others report very uncomfortable), resort grounds and setting very picturesque.

Property starting to show its age, and could do with a refresh; leather (?) couch in living room area was very worn (brown colour worn right off on cushions and arms, which was, frankly, pretty shabby, and not something that would have happened over night), some walls were scuffed and in need of repaint, cream carpets needed a cleaning, bbq was non-functioning (we had planned a steak supper but fortunately checked the bbq before buying them, and ended up going out to a great restaurant instead!), and had to rummage around among several incomplete coffee makers squirrelled away in various closets in order to assemble one that would work. Minor faults in and of themselves, but combined suggest that property was not being maintained that regularly, or up to standards we would expect for the rental price (and the added cleaning fee). No A/C; fortunately we were there before the summer heat began and were quite comfortable, but that could have been a factor had we come later in the season. Property was in first tier in from highway, which was extremely busy and quite noisy at all hours; fortunately bedroom windows were on quiet side away from road and could be left open at night.

With the exception of the door code incident it was excellent.

The door codes arrive too late by email. For example, I left for the office to find out what to do 5 minutes before my arrival time. No one was available at the office at the appointed time, and I didnt see the email with the detailed entry/door code instructions until 10 minutes later and after I had called the emergency numbers. I would have preferred to have the email arrive a few minutes earlier so that I would have known not to go to the office.

Could be better

Today I finally received a call from the resort management (Jennifer) and change my opinion, as I understood that it was a communication problem with Booking.com. Their offered their apology and that is enough for me!

First of all, I asked for a early check in that was refused and when I arrived at 4:00 PM I must wait until 5:10 PM for the place be available. I booked for 7 people with one of the bedroom with two full beds and the place were only for six because both bedroom had only one queen bed each. I asked the reception and they have no option, transfering the problem to Booking.com way to make reservations. Therefore I had to spend C$ 90 buying an airbed... but the worst is that the frontdesk told me that someone would give a call, wich I am still waiting for.

Two bedrooms plus a sofa bed.

No comforter for the sofa bed. Walking upstairs can be heard clearly downstairs. Checkout time is 10 am and late check out is not possible. Guests are asked to take out garbage upon checking out and the main garbage area is far from the unit. The worst is extra $170 USD fee
