Hampton Inn & Suites Sherman Oaks

The Hampton provides good standard rooms, with ample space and a generous bathroom. The breakfast buffet shows some imagination (I recommend the muffins with the oat flakes on the outside, banana I think), and the coffee is good. You can also buy food, drinks and snacks from an on-site pantry, but the prices are high (there's a Target down the block on the other side of the street, though). Plenty of parking is available, at an extra charge but one expects that in the L.A. area. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and competent. I had something odd happen -- the little flip bolt on the room door somehow flipped when I'd put my luggage in and went back out to place the parking permit in my car. When I returned to the room, I couldn't get in. Within minutes, a lady from housekeeping arrived with a tool that was able to flip the bolt back. Well done!

I was lucky in that my room faced to the back of the hotel. I heard one man complaining loudly about the noise level in his room, which faced busy Sepulveda Boulevard. You may want to request a quiet room. The breakfast area is dominated by two huge TVs blaring newscasts (Fox and CNN). I found a sofa to one side with a small table, but would have preferred a quieter area in which to eat and read my book. Cleanliness, not so much in the room as in the public spaces, was a bit of a problem. In particular, there was a rather disgusting puddle of something on the floor of one elevator which remained there for quite a while. But I also have to say I did not report it when I first saw it, because there were people waiting in line at the front desk and I didn't want to butt in.

Very clean, great location, quiet, comfortable beds, staff were perfect. Breakfast was great.

No safe in room and parking charge but it’s LA.

Great breakfast. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. My 95 year old grandmother stayed as well . Everyone treated her like royalty!

Extraordinarily expensive for very little accommodations. Over $600 for two nights. No restaurant no bar. Pillows were very flat. The price I was charged was not the price that I booked for. But I wasn’t gonna fight about it. I had to go to work. Our first room had some kind of bugs flying around in the shower and bathroom. We had to get changed to another room after I took a video of it and brought it down to the front desk.
