The history of the building. The staff was awesome.
The beds could use a little updating. And maybe a lamp in the rooms.

Staff was amazing and helpful. The bed was very cozy and clean. The kitchenette came in very handy. There was plenty of room to move around. I would have liked a higher floor. Maybe next time
Rooms are a little on the dark side. The natural light helps

It’s old, historic in nature. Ambiance reflects its age. Parking lot was good and accessible. Location was downtown.
Rooms were cramped. Sheets were not cleaned well. No staff available.

Great location next to shops
Very uncomfortable bed, No staff most of the time, deserted feel. There was a beeping noise all night near the rooms that prevented sleep. Horrible night and no staff to talk with about it.

Staying downtown in old historic Placerville in an old historic hotel is a kick. Makes your stay in Placerville a memorable experience. Parking is provided in a convenient adjoining lot. Lots of good fun place to eat. Enjoy breakfast at the Buttercup Pantry - try the biscuits, a milkshake at Mel's, but the pie is blah, and dinner at Bricks. Check out the shops with tempting goods of all types at tourist trap prices.
No complaints. Fun place to visit in the motherlode.

It's comfortable and I love the old fashioned decor. It got a little hot because we didn't know how to set the thermostat. We should have asked. We had a two room suite. It was perfect. My teenage granddaughter had her own room and tv.
It got a little to hot the first night but they helped us fix that.

Staff, views, town setting, history.
It had a kitchenet; however, nothing to cook with, no where to eat or anything to eat with, no table to work at, and breakfast never happened before we left (really just wanted a decent cup of coffee). I get better water pressure from my camper for a shower.

Such a beautiful historic hotel. We enjoyed the lobby with all the memorabilia from the past. The staff were amazing, kind and welcoming. Great location near yummy food and cute shops.
We payed for a very simple room. That’s what we got. We were fine with that. But the room was showing too much wear. Torn comforter, hair in tub, cheap pillows were too fluffy but not kneadable.

Well located. Interesting history. Sitting area with small refrigerator, sink and a couple of burners and a door to close off the bedroom was nice to have. Relatively clean. Windows that open.
For the price, this property is in serious need of updating. Rooms are small, carpets and bathroom fixtures were in working order but everything is from the 1950’s/60’s.

We love the Cary House. Quaint, quiet, and close to our favorite Main Street.
Nothing.

Love the historical history & authenticity!
My 1st night stay the Heat did not work in my room, therefore was uncomfortable thru out the night sleep. Extra blanket in closet did help BUT sheets & comforter very thin. Could use an update on the bedding. 2nd night the Heat was working as the sweet gals @ the front desk reassured me!;) Very lovely to be greeted w/ sincerity
and kindness!

Awesome historic property, in the middle of downtown Placerville. The staff were super nice, very helpful. The room was large and very quiet, bed was comfortable, and the hot water was consistent.
The little coffee pods/coffee maker are pretty bad. The hotel should have some fresh coffee available in the morning. Especially on weekends, when the likely have most of their guests.

The property is on the central street which makes every other place you would want to go accessible. They have a parking lot once you get checked in provide you with parking that is a life saver. The building is almost directly across from the hanging tree.
We liked everything. The room had two burners and a fridge, it was missing a microwave but had a small coffee pot.

It's and incredible value and exceeded my expectation. The room had a coffee maker with coffee, sugar and creamer ready to be prepared. It was a clean room and very comfortable bed. We sat on the second story balcony and watched people walking through the historic downtown stores. Loved the view!
A breakfast served out in the lobby would make it better but there is a very good restaurant on the other side of the street.

The location is perfect - we could walk to several restaurants and had convenient free parking.
There is a very good coffee shop next door, as well as a store for charcuterie and a tasting room. The courtyard with tables & umbrellas is very pleasant - a great place to enjoy it all.
The front desk attendant was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations.
The cooling system is noisy but it does cool well. We had to turn it off at night.
