Great location, lovely staff, and comfortable room. Would have liked if there was a bar in the hotel but this was not a big issue given all the other places to go which are very close by.
The bedroom was a little tight and the hotel is clearly quite old, but everything was clean and tidy and the location really is very good.

It’s a historic building so it’s got character. The bathrooms are old.

The suites are very well appointed including a fridge, microwave, and dishes. It’s an old building with character, so it does show some wear, especially the bathroom tile. The staff was amazing! We arrived early on a cruise ship and one of our rooms was ready and we were given the key before noon. The best part of this hotel is the rooftop patio! There is an inside and outside area complete with coffee, tea, and water. A wonderful place to hang out.

I love this property because it’s convenient to all the local bars and restaurants! Staff here are all so nice, front desk people are always so welcoming! Since 2021, me and my family have still here 4 times and we have never had a compliant. March 2026 will be our 5th time and I can not wait.
No complains and no problems with this property

Everything was perfect. I loved the location because it was near the places I planned to visit during my trip, the facility was very nice a bit old but with a contemporary atmosphere, clean and cozy. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, especially Merry at the front desk, she’s AMAZING.
Nothing bad about it

The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the rooftop kitchen and outside were very good with free and unlimited hot drinks and water.
The room was comfortable and spacious with fridge and hot drinks making facility.
The location in downtown/Gaslamp Quarter was superb, short walk to bars/restaurants/supermarkets and public transport stops.
The staff were always friendly, polite and very helpful.
The hotel was good, and there was nothing I didn't like.

Spotless shared roof terrace with fabulous view (indoor and outdoor with seating and dining area) to take your own food and drink to. Coffee machine and water also provided up there as well as ice machine.
Noisy air con but I’ve never had a quiet one in any hotel so I’m not sure this is a problem they could fix.

The room was so beautiful and fun to stay in. It felt like an apartment from the 20s with a great view of downtown san diego. Walking distance from the convention center.
Check in was a little rough. It took a long time for the room to be ready.

The staff is incredible, especially the hilarious knowledgable lady who checked us in. We just wanted to spend our time being with her! The location is amazing for everything you want to do and see and the building feels like cozy history. We will be there again.
Maybe the cost but we did get upgraded to a suite so that took the sting out a bit. Location alone is worth it though. And all the marble!

the staff were all really friendly and helpful.... the room was large, comfortable, stylish, and CLEAN we love old architecture so this was wonderful
a card with the channels for the TVs?
there was a lot of noise outside way into the very late night early morning. People yelling - but what can you do about that? I hated that I had to go to priceline to book to get a better deal but I had to do that in order for us to stay there.

Did not have breakfast. There was a restaurant in the building in the ground floor but it was not clear how to access it. It's was unnecessary though given the amount of restaurants adjacent to the hotel. The staff was super friendly and helpful: front desk, valet, and housekeeping. They were super fast with all requests. The suite was large, classic, well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The windows and view were wonderful. The bathroom was roomy, with tiles and marble, and instant hot water. The a/c was quick to cool. No noise could be heard from other rooms.
It is near a busy street in the Gaslamp Quarter and therefore prone to street noise. This was understood prior to arrival and so it was not a bother.

I checked into the Gaslamp Plaza Suite hotel this afternoon, and the front desk gave me a free room upgrade—what a pleasant surprise! The room has a dedicated bathroom with separate wet and dry areas, a microwave, a small coffee maker, a sofa, a TV, a desk, and two large windows. Moreover, the tissues and towels are folded into beautiful shapes. There's free coffee on the top floor of the hotel, and they even gave me a $6 bus card, which allows unlimited rides on any bus until 11 p.m. The front desk staff was especially thoughtful and told me about the tourist routes. It's a great hotel! I'll stay here again next time I come.
It is better to provide an electric kettle and slipper if necessary.

It was fancy very antique
I didn’t like that they charged me twice so be careful if you do stay here because they charge me twice and ruined my vacation with my kids. They never gave me a courtesy call back to even apologize or try to reimburse me for the inconvenience.

The location, the suite is huge and fully equipped! Definitely great value!
Thin windows, so there was some noise from the outside.

The room itself is nice and clean
They could have blackout curtains, so you’re not seeing all the city lights and you’re possibly blocking out the extreme noise that is going on. I understand that it is a busier city, but the price that you pay you really should be able to sleep at night and which here and unless it’s 3 AM in the morning if you’re not doing it.

Nostalgic feel to the hotel, gave a sense of history. It is definitely not a brand new facility, but I was not expecting it to be so I was not disappointed.
Had to pay for parking, but I kind of knew that might be the case in downtown. Also, we struggled a bit to get the TV working at first, but we finally figured it out.

Staff were welcoming and friendly
The 'Standard' room was very small and not worth the money we paid. Having just spent 14 nights in 8 different hotels during our road trip, we thought we'd booked a decent room for our last two nights in the US. Really disappointed to find the room was tiny, with no window view (smoked, wired glass you couldn't see through, like a prison cell) and lights activated by motion. Disturbed sleep when either of us needed to use the restroom because the lights came on when you moved!
The door to the room is glass and lets in light from the hallway and the AC is either on or off. Too hot, then too cold. Two very expensive disturbed nights. That room should not cost more than about $80. We paid over $300 per night for a very poor room indeed.

The staff were fantastic. Merry on the reception desk definitely lives up to her name, and was extremely helpful both with information about the local area and transportation, and for kindly upgrading my room to a beautiful corner suite. The room was great, clean and comfy and the location is walking distance to restaurants, ferries, bars and shops. The rooftop view from the hotel is worth checking out on the top floor.
The shower pressure was pretty bad, and there weren't many outlets near the bed for chargers. The hotel is old and rooms show their age.
