Villa Silene

The breakfast that was included was above and beyond. We received a full pot of espresso coffee. There was bread that was freshly baked from the oven and still warm , butter and margarine, Jam, honey, Marmalade . A locally made huge wedge of cheese. That was the local prize winning cheese. Plus couple of other cheeses. Three kinds of sliced meats. Orange juice. Fabulous breakfast. Served in a nice sunny dining room. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. My bed, which was a twin bed was comfortable. The swimming pool was clean and well maintained. We didn't swim because it wasn't quite warm enough mid-september.

I think people should be aware that there are three dogs on the property. One of them had a very aggressive sounding bark. Although he is a friendly dog, there is a small horse/pony that roams the property. It really is a country property on the way to breakfast. we stumbled over a small mole that had met his demise in the night. The stairs up to our room were very rickety and unstable. The dogs could be a positive for many people, but they weren't for me. My travel mates loved them. The whole place looks like it needed a good pruning. Raking, dusting and polishing. Was a very rustic experience. It is quite a ways out in the countryside. I think that someone looking for an unusual experience would really enjoy this place. We did basically enjoy our time there, although it wasn't quite as as conventional as we were expecting

There is a very heavy overwhelming smell of Portugese cheese in the breakfast area

It is the most beautiful property with the absolute best hosts. You could not ask for more!
