Apartment in Manhattan Beach, CA
Reasons to book
About this apartment rental
A one bedroom apartment on the lower level of a two unit building on Highland Avenue, one block in from the sand at El Porto. It has its own private entrance, and the ocean is in view from the patio, which is where most of the day tends to end up.
The living space is the center of the apartment. Seating faces a large television, and the custom queen sleeper sofa opens for two without the room stopping being a living room. Room darkening shades handle the morning light.
The kitchen is a real one, with a stove, an oven, a dishwasher, and a microwave, stocked with cookware, dishes, glassware, wine glasses, and a drip coffee maker with coffee already on hand. The dining table seats six, which is more table than a one bedroom usually offers, and it is the reason this apartment works for a group that would rather cook and eat in than book a table every night.
The bedroom is quiet and sits away from the living space, with a queen bed and a desk that is genuinely usable for a working morning. Wifi runs throughout and there is a wired ethernet connection for anyone who needs the reliability. The full bathroom is stocked for a real stay, and the washer and dryer are in the unit, so a beach week does not end in a laundromat.
The patio is the part guests talk about. It faces the water, it catches the afternoon light, and it is close enough to the sand that you can read the surf from it before deciding what to do with the day.
Guests will have access to the entire lower level apartment, the private entrance, the patio, and one dedicated parking space.
The upper residence in the building is separately occupied and is not part of the rental. The upper level, its entrance, and its outdoor areas are off limits to guests. This is a quiet residential building on a residential street, and we ask guests to treat it that way, particularly in the evening and early morning.
The Open Air Homes team is dedicated to ensuring a great experience for your stay! We`re here to assist with any inquiries or provide local recommendations for your exploration in the area.
El Porto is the northern end of Manhattan Beach, and it has a different character from the rest of the city. The blocks are tighter, the buildings are a mix of older beach apartments and newer builds, and the crowd skews toward people who are here for the water rather than for the shopping.
The surf break at El Porto is the most consistent in the South Bay and draws surfers year round, which is what gives the neighborhood its pace. Casual restaurants, coffee, and taco spots line Highland Avenue within a few blocks of the apartment, and a grocery run is a short drive. Sand Dune Park is close by for anyone who wants the workout.
The Strand, the paved path that runs along the sand, starts at the end of the block and continues south through Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach to Redondo. Downtown Manhattan Beach, with its restaurants, boutiques, and the pier, is about a mile and a half south and an easy walk or a few minutes by car. LAX is roughly 15 minutes north, which makes this a practical base for a short trip.
Most people choose to have a car when visiting Southern California. There are an abundant amount of unique and significant attractions within two hours of this home. If you`re an explorer, we recommend a car.
That said, El Porto is walkable in the way beach neighborhoods are. The sand, the Strand, and a number of restaurants and cafes are reachable on foot, and a bike covers the rest of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach easily.
The home includes one dedicated parking space. Street parking in El Porto is limited and fills quickly, especially on summer weekends, so guests with a second vehicle should plan accordingly. Uber and Lyft are readily available throughout the area.
Please note there is an exterior camera on the property, which records exterior activity only. There are no cameras or recording devices inside the home.
Please note that this home does not have air conditioning. It sits one block from the water and stays comfortable on the ocean breeze through most of the year, with heating provided for cooler months.
This is a two unit building with a separately occupied residence directly above. Sound carries, and we ask that guests keep noise down after 10:00 PM. Events, parties, and gatherings beyond the registered guest count are not permitted.
