Ski Lodge / Luxury Chalet "Schmelzhütte" with Sauna in Flattach on the Mölltal Glacier

This original smelter house, dating back to 1725, was extensively renovated in 2021 into a one-of-a-kind, incredibly cozy chalet!
With a private garden, barbecue area, and its own sauna, it’s your exclusive base for exploring the Mölltal Valley. Just a 5-minute walk from the Raggaschlucht Gorge, right on the Alpe-Adria Cycle Route, and a mere 10 kilometers from the valley station of the Mölltal Glacier. Directly across the street is an authentic Austrian inn—the Gasthof Raggaschlucht with a beer garden.
This historic house features 4 bedrooms with a total of 9 beds. It features a fully equipped kitchen with a fully automatic coffee machine, a large living room with a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi, a sauna with a relaxation room, and a spacious closet with a ski dryer.

The chalet’s furnishings blend elegantly with the natural wood floors and centuries-old beams. All rooms are individually designed. Three have their own en suite bathrooms—one of the children’s rooms has access to a bathroom down the hall.
After a long day, you can relax in the sauna. A relaxation room and the garden with a barbecue area invite you to unwind.
You can use the 2 parking spaces at the property free of charge. Depending on weather conditions, these may not be plowed.
The house is designed to accommodate up to 9 adults and a maximum of one baby. Smaller groups or two families will feel especially at home.

The room rate includes sales tax, electricity, heating, the sauna, parking spaces, final cleaning, and firewood
for the barbecue area.
Unfortunately, pets—no matter how sweet or small—are not allowed out of consideration for guests with allergies.
We—the Machhausen family—fell in love with this old house. We lovingly and completely renovated it over the course of nearly two years. And we’d like to give you the chance to spend a dream vacation in the mountains in a rustic setting, very close to the glacier and the Raggaschlucht Gorge. We rent out our house exclusively as a whole chalet just for you!

The chalet is just a few minutes’ drive from the Mölltal Glacier. It’s in a quiet location 250 meters from the famous Raggaschlucht—on the traffic-calmed bike and hiking trail in Flattach. It’s diagonally across from the Gasthof Raggaschlucht, which features a beer garden and a unique view of the mountains.
