Timberline Basecamp is a six-bedroom timber cabin within the Northstar resort community, perched above Martis Valley about halfway between historic downtown Truckee and the Lake Tahoe beaches at Kings Beach. Skiing, golf, lift-served mountain biking, and miles of trails all start minutes from the driveway, which is exactly what a basecamp is for. Come ski season, the logistics handle themselves. Northstar's on-call shuttle picks up and drops off right at the door, so the whole group gets to the lifts without shuffling cars or circling for parking. And when the last run is done, the seven-person hot tub on the top deck is waiting, steam rising over Martis Valley while the day gets retold. Inside, the cabin leans into its setting: wood-plank ceilings, exposed beams, and a stone fireplace anchoring the living room, with big windows pulling the valley in. The open main level connects the living space, a full kitchen with counter seating, and a dining table for eight, so nobody cooks alone or eats in shifts. Four smart TVs are spread through the house, and the downstairs game room settles the after-dinner question with a pool table, shuffleboard, darts, a TV of its own, and a pile of bean bags for spectators, plus a bar nook with stools for whoever's keeping score. Six bedrooms hold nine beds and sleep up to 17 guests (14 plus children under 13). The main-level primary pairs a Cal king with an ensuite bath and private access to the back deck. It is not wheelchair accessible and there is no elevator. - The home has heat but no air conditioning. Winter season runs November through April. - Bear-proof trash bins are used at this home. Trash and recycling are collected on Mondays. - Bears, rodents, and insects are part of life in this area. Please keep doors closed and food stored securely. This is a true living-with-nature setting. Parking Details: - Parking is available for up to 4 vehicles, with 2 garage spaces and 2 driveway spaces. The entry is somewhat narrow, so parking can be a bit tight; 2 trucks and 2 midsize vehicles typically fit comfortably. Garage clearance is 6'10", with spaces measuring 19' and 16'5" in length; the driveway/deck areas measure 37' and 16' in length. – This is a smoke-free property. Violation of the no-smoking policy will result in forfeiture of the security deposit, a $300 smoking fee, and liability for any fire or property damage costs. As part of our commitment to being good neighbors, occupancy limits and quiet hours (9pm-8am) are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems will be provided for use in our properties. Violation of any noise ordinances will be subject to fines that can reach up to $10,000 per violation. Events or parties are not allowed without prior written approval and an additional fee. Any unauthorized parties or events will be shut down and a fine will be assessed. Please inquire for more information about our event policies and fees.
