About this house rental
Welcome to a beautiful new mountain cabin in an exceptional location at Varden, Kvitfjell. Here, you'll enjoy true ski-in/ski-out access, cross-country skiing virtually from your doorstep and wonderful views across the valley towards Kvitfjell West.
With five bedrooms, 12 beds, two bathrooms and two separate living areas, the cabin is ideal for two families, an extended family or a group of friends looking to experience the Norwegian mountains together – while still having plenty of space.
In winter, your ski day starts outside the door. During the rest of the year, Kvitfjell transforms into a playground for hiking, mountain biking, fishing and family adventures.
True ski-in/ski-out at family-friendly Varden
Leave the car parked and start your ski holiday from the cabin.
Varden is one of Kvitfjell's most family-friendly areas, with wide, gentle slopes particularly well suited to children and beginners.
The chairlift takes you up from Varden, with connections onwards into the wider Kvitfjell ski area. Younger skiers can gain confidence on the easier slopes while experienced skiers head off to explore more of the mountain.
And at the end of the day?
Ski all the way home.
No driving. No searching for parking. No carrying everyone's skis back and forth.
Simply take off your skis, step inside and warm up by the fire.
Cross-country skiing from your doorstep
If some members of the family prefer cross-country skiing, this is an equally great place to stay.
Put on your cross-country skis by the cabin and head into the extensive network of groomed trails around Kvitfjell and the surrounding mountains.
Choose an easy family outing with hot chocolate and a packed lunch, or spend the entire day exploring the mountains on skis.
There is no need to choose between an alpine and cross-country holiday here – you can enjoy both from the same cabin.
Sleeps 12 – made for two families
The cabin offers five bedrooms and 12 sleeping spaces:
2 bedrooms with comfortable double beds
1 bedroom with a traditional bunk bed
2 bedrooms with family bunk beds
There are also two bathrooms, making mornings considerably easier when everyone is getting ready for a day on the mountain.
The layout is particularly well suited to two families or several generations travelling together, with plenty of space to gather as well as separate areas for children and adults.
Gather around the kitchen and fireplace
The main floor is the social heart of the cabin.
The well-equipped kitchen opens onto the dining and living area, allowing everyone to spend time together while dinner is being prepared.
After a day outside, light the wood-burning stove, settle into the sofa and enjoy a relaxing evening in the mountains.
The living area has comfortable seating and a TV, while the large dining area is made for leisurely breakfasts before skiing and long dinners after everyone returns.
Step outside onto the rooftop terrace and enjoy beautiful views across the valley towards Kvitfjell West.
A private cinema for the kids
Downstairs, you'll find a separate TV lounge with a cinema-sized screen.
After hours on the slopes, this may quickly become the children's favourite room.
They can enjoy a movie downstairs while the adults relax by the fire or continue the evening around the dining table upstairs.
Or bring everyone together, put your feet up and turn it into a family movie night.
When 12 people are travelling together, having two separate living areas makes a real difference.
Everything you need for an easy mountain holiday
The practical details matter – especially when travelling with a large family.
There is parking for up to three cars and access to an EV charger. This makes the cabin highly convenient, especially when two families are traveling together in separate cars.
The cabin features fast Wi-Fi and a combined washer-dryer—particularly handy after active days in the mountains with children.
Kvitfjell beyond the ski season
Kvitfjell has much more to offer than snow.
When winter gives way to summer, the mountains become perfect for hiking, from relaxed family walks to longer days exploring the surrounding landscape.
Bring an e-bike, mountain bike or trail bike and discover mountain roads and trails through beautiful Norwegian scenery.
For a quieter day, pack a fishing rod and try your luck for mountain trout in the area's lakes, ponds and rivers.
Autumn brings another experience altogether, with crisp mountain air, colourful landscapes and peaceful trails.
Family adventures in Gudbrandsdalen
Kvitfjell is also an excellent base for exploring some of the best family attractions in the region.
Head south for a day at Hunderfossen Family Park or Lilleputthammer, particularly popular with families travelling with younger children.
For older children and adults looking for more adventure, drive north towards Sjoa, famous for white-water rafting and river activities.
Explore Ringebu and the Gudbrandsdalen valley – or simply leave the car parked and spend your holiday enjoying the mountains around the cabin.
Your mountain home in every season
This is more than somewhere to sleep between activities.
It's where the children come home with red cheeks after a day of skiing. Where dinner is prepared while the fire crackles in the background. Where the kids disappear downstairs for movie night while the adults stay around the table a little longer.
In winter, you wake up with the ski slopes outside your door.
In summer, to mountains, biking trails and long Nordic evenings.
And whatever the season, you return to a modern and comfortable mountain home with room for everyone.
Welcome to Varden – with Kvitfjell right outside your door.
