About this apartment rental

Summary:

Modern 2-bed, 2-bath apartment sleeping 4, with a wraparound balcony and a table for two overlooking Elstree Studios, home to Star Wars, EastEnders and more. Rare 2 basement parking bays, ideal for contractors and crew arriving with kit. A 4-seater dining table suits groups, plus a shared roof terrace. Direct Thameslink trains reach London St Pancras in around 20 minutes. A comfortable, well connected base for studio visitors, contractors and business travellers on short stays.

The Space:

Welcome to a modern 2-bed, 2-bath apartment that sleeps 4, set on a high floor directly opposite Elstree Studios, the heart of British Hollywood since the 1920s. Step inside and the film theme continues in the hallway, with framed posters setting the tone before you've even put your bags down. Every part of this home has been put together with studio visitors, contractors and short-stay guests in mind, from the wraparound balcony to the two rare basement parking bays.

The living space

An open-plan lounge and dining area forms the heart of the apartment, with two comfortable sofas, a Smart TV, and a 4-seater dining table for shared meals or catching up after a day on set or in meetings. Dark wood flooring and big windows keep the space light and easy to relax in, whether you're here for one night or several weeks.

Bedroom one, with ensuite

Just off the hallway, the first bedroom is a comfortable double with built-in wardrobe storage and its own private ensuite bathroom, complete with bath and shower, so you're never sharing on busy mornings.

Bedroom two

A second comfortable double bedroom, also with built-in storage, served by the well presented family bathroom just by the entrance.

The balconies

The apartment's balcony wraps around more than one side, and the section overlooking Elstree Studios comes with its own table for two, a genuinely rare spot to have your morning coffee while looking out over a working film studio.

The roof terrace

Beyond the apartment itself, guests also have access to Foster House's shared roof terrace, a lovely communal spot with seating and skyline views across Borehamwood, ideal for some fresh air without leaving the building.

The kitchen

Fully equipped for self-catering, with a fridge freezer, oven, hob, microwave and washing machine, so cooking a full meal or just breakfast on the go is equally easy, and longer stays are just as comfortable as short ones.

Hotel-quality comfort

The apartment is professionally cleaned between every stay, with hotel-quality beds, linen and towels throughout, so you can arrive and unwind straight away, whether you're here for a one-night shoot or a longer contract.

A curated touch, Elstree Studios film heritage throughout

This is a home for film lovers as much as it is for studio crew and contractors. Framed posters for 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange line the hallway, and the living space carries a curated shelf of DVDs and books celebrating the area's screen history, including Star Wars and 2001: A Space Odyssey, both filmed at the Borehamwood studios. A nice extra for guests in town for a shoot, or simply curious about Borehamwood's "British Hollywood" film heritage.

Parking

Two basement parking bays come with the apartment, a genuinely rare find for this building and a real help for contractors and crew arriving with kit or equipment.

A comfortable, well connected apartment for studio visitors, contractors, business travellers and anyone wanting a well equipped short stay close to Central London.

Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the entire apartment on the 5th floor, with lift access throughout the building. Check-in is via a lockbox located at the property entrance. A fob is provided for entry everywhere else you'll need it, including the basement parking bays, the roof garden and other communal areas.

The Neighborhood:

Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, has been nicknamed "British Hollywood" since the 1920s, and this apartment puts you right in the middle of that story.

On the doorstep of Elstree Studios

Elstree Studios on Shenley Road is just around the corner, the studio behind Star Wars, The Dam Busters, The Shining, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Big Brother. The neighbouring BBC Elstree Centre produces EastEnders and Holby City, and Sky Studios Elstree, one of the newest and largest film and TV production hubs in the UK, opened close by in 2023. Whether you're cast, crew, or visiting for meetings, you can walk to set in minutes rather than battling traffic.

Shops, cafes and everyday life

Shenley Road, Borehamwood's town centre, is close by with a good spread of shops, cafes, supermarkets and restaurants for everyday essentials or a night out. Borehamwood Shopping Park, a larger retail park with well known high street brands, is also nearby for a bigger shop.

Well connected for Central London

Elstree & Borehamwood railway station is around a 12 to 15 minute walk away, sitting in TfL Zone 6. Direct Thameslink trains run straight into London St Pancras International in as little as 22 minutes, putting the West End, the City and the Eurostar terminal firmly within reach for a day out or a day of meetings. Borehamwood itself is about 12 miles from Charing Cross, giving you a quieter, more affordable base without losing fast access to Central London.

Ideal for studio visitors, contractors and short stays

Between the walk-to-set convenience, the everyday amenities on Shenley Road and the quick Thameslink run into London, this neighbourhood works equally well for production crew on a shoot, contractors working locally, and anyone after a well connected short stay just outside the capital.

Getting Around:

Driving and parking

Two private basement parking bays come with the apartment, with fob access, so contractors and crew can drive straight in with kit or equipment and leave the car secure. The A1 runs just to the east of Borehamwood, and the M25 is about 2 miles to the north, making this an easy base for anyone driving in and out of London or further afield.

On foot

Elstree Studios is only a short walk away, so cast, crew and production staff can walk to set rather than deal with studio traffic or parking. Elstree & Borehamwood station and the shops, cafes and restaurants on Shenley Road are also within easy walking distance, around 12 to 15 minutes.

By train

Elstree & Borehamwood station runs direct Thameslink services into London St Pancras International in as little as 20 to 22 minutes, with frequent trains throughout the day, ideal for a day of meetings or an evening in the West End.

By bus

Local bus routes connect Borehamwood further afield, including the 107 (New Barnet to Edgware), 292 (Colindale and Rossington Avenue), 601 (toward Welwyn Garden City via St Albans) and 644 (Hatfield to Queensbury), useful if your plans take you beyond the station or studio.

Airports

London Luton Airport is the closest, around 20 miles away and about a 28 minute drive, or roughly 30 to 40 minutes by direct Thameslink train via Luton Airport Parkway. Heathrow is a similar distance, around 19 miles and about 36 minutes by car. London Stansted is around 37 miles, about a 41 minute drive or a train journey of around 1.5 hours. Gatwick is around 43 miles away, reachable in roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 25 minutes by car or by direct train via St Pancras.

Other Things to Note:

***Parking, please read before arrival***

If you're driving, bring your car to the main entrance first rather than heading straight down to the basement. Collect your keys from the lockbox at the entrance, then take them up to the apartment to collect your parking permit. The permit is mandatory and must be displayed clearly and visibly in your vehicle at all times; fines will apply to any vehicle parked without one. Once you have the permit, head back down to the parking level. The gate just before the entrance opens by fob only, so use the fob provided with your keys to get in. Park in bay 23 or bay 64; bay 64 is the closest to the basement door that leads up to the apartment by lift.
