About this cottage rental
With flexible bedrooms to suit couples, friends or families, this first-floor apartment is a stylish conversion of a former stables, coach house and groom’s quarters. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it’s just 2 miles from the lovely town of Gatehouse of Fleet, which boasts a choice of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, and only 10 miles from vibrant Kirkcudbright, known as ‘the artists’ town’, with its pastel-coloured houses and fascinating art and craft trail. Just behind Gatehouse of Fleet are the beautiful Cally Woods, renowned for their snowdrops and bluebells, and home to buzzards, roe deer and red squirrels. The nearby area is full of excellent golf courses and fascinating historic monuments, and is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, with walking, biking, fishing, horse riding and much more available. For lovers of wild swimming and water sports, the Solway Coast – and its unspoilt beaches – is reachable within 7 miles.
The apartment is set in the grounds of Rusko House, ensuring peace and tranquillity. It is accessed by an internal stone staircase, and then, when you step through your front door, you’ll find an open-plan living space with a soaring, vaulted ceiling and magnificent timber beams. With a wooden floor and pale walls, the space welcomes you to sit back, relax and unwind. Comfortable seating surrounds a wood burner and a satellite TV – perfect for cosy evenings at home. A well-planned kitchen area makes cooking easy and efficient, with everything you’ll need at hand, including a dishwasher. The generous dining table will easily accommodate everyone, whether for a hearty breakfast or an evening feast. When you’re ready for a good night’s sleep, head to the three tranquil king-size bedrooms (any of which can be converted to twins on request), each of which has its own sleek, en-suite shower room.
At the rear of the building is a spacious terrace complete with a fire pit and unlimited logs, ready for al fresco enjoyment. There are excellent views over the adjoining fields to the surrounding hills and woods beyond, and at nighttime, this is an excellent spot for stargazing. Making arrivals and departures easy, parking is also provided for up to three cars.
