House in Lafayette, LA
Reasons to book
About this house rental
This is not a house that simply gives you somewhere to sleep while visiting Louisiana. The house is part of the experience.
From the moment you enter the private gated courtyard, Maison de la Baie feels different. Antique cypress, brick floors, exposed beams, stained glass, intricate details, and New Orleans inspired architecture give the home a character that is difficult to find in a typical vacation rental.
Spend the morning with coffee beneath the pergola. Cool off in your private pool in the afternoon. Head out for incredible Cajun and Creole food, live music, shopping, a festival, or a Ragin’ Cajuns game. Then come home for a game of pool and a movie on the 100 inch TV.
There is plenty to do in Lafayette, but this is also the kind of house where staying in can be part of the trip.
THE COURTYARD AND PRIVATE POOL
Step through the gates and into your own private courtyard.
The courtyard is one of our favorite parts of Maison de la Baie and one of the reasons we fell in love with the property. Brickwork, a spacious pergola, a private swimming pool, and a New Orleans inspired balcony create a space that feels tucked away from the rest of the city.
Have your morning coffee outside, spend an afternoon around the pool, or relax beneath the pergola after dinner.
The entire courtyard and pool are private to your group.
A HOUSE FULL OF STORIES
One of the things we love most about Maison de la Baie is that almost every room has something unexpected.
The most remarkable example may be the wine cellar. It was constructed from a 1,500 gallon wine barrel brought from Bordeaux, France. Step inside and you are literally standing within the curved walls of the enormous barrel.
Even the barstools have a story. They were crafted from Maker’s Mark whiskey barrels.
Elsewhere throughout the home you will find antique cypress, exposed brick, stained glass, beautiful woodwork, decorative fireplaces, unusual architectural details, and spaces that feel like they belong somewhere in the French Quarter.
There is even a living room where vintage doors are mounted across the brick walls, creating one of the quirkiest spaces in the house.
This is a home that rewards wandering around and looking closely.
THE GAME ROOM
The oversized game room was made for nights together.
Challenge someone to a game of pool, stretch out on the huge sectional, or put the game or a movie on the 100 inch television.
The room also includes a queen size pullout bed, giving your group additional sleeping flexibility.
Whether everyone gathers here after dinner or the kids claim it for the evening, there is plenty of room to spread out.
PLENTY OF ROOM TO RELAX
The house has multiple living spaces, so a larger group does not have to spend the entire trip in one room.
A sitting room just off the kitchen offers another comfortable place to watch TV, talk, or relax and features a distinctive custom fireplace designed by a New Orleans architect.
Near the foyer, another living space includes a 65 inch TV and pullout sofa, along with some of the home’s most unusual brick and vintage door details.
There is also a cozy reading nook tucked beneath the stairs for anyone looking for a quieter corner of the house.
Some people can watch the game. Someone else can read. Others can hang out by the pool. Everyone has room to settle in.
THE PRIMARY SUITE
The primary suite is one of the showpieces of the home.
Soaring 20 foot ceilings create a dramatic space, while the king bed gives you a comfortable place to settle in at the end of the day.
The primary bathroom feels like its own retreat, with a classic clawfoot tub, bidet, and an eight nozzle spa style shower.
It is spacious, distinctive, and very much in keeping with the rest of the house.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
Maison de la Baie has three bedrooms, plus additional sleeping space in two of the living areas.
Primary suite: King bed
Second bedroom: King bed
Third bedroom: Queen bed and bunk bed
Game room: Queen size pullout bed
Living room: Pullout sofa
The home also includes three full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, giving everyone more room to get ready without crowding into one bathroom.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO SETTLE IN
The fully equipped kitchen gives you plenty of room for breakfast at home, drinks before dinner, or a full meal when you would rather stay in.
The house also includes a dedicated office for anyone who needs to get a little work done during the trip, along with two laundry areas for added convenience.
Five on site parking spaces are available across two driveways.
A few designated owner and housekeeping storage spaces remain secured and are not available to guests. The home’s residential lift is also secured and unavailable for guest use.
EXPERIENCE LAFAYETTE
Maison de la Baie gives you a private place to retreat while keeping you close to the things that make Lafayette worth visiting.
Excellent restaurants, local coffee, shopping, antique stores, entertainment, River Ranch, Topgolf, UL Lafayette, medical facilities, and Lafayette Regional Airport are all conveniently accessible.
Come for Festival International. Visit for Festivals Acadiens et Créoles. Spend a weekend cheering on the Ragin’ Cajuns. Come for a wedding, family gathering, college visit, work trip, or simply because you want to eat your way through one of the best food cities in the South.
Lafayette is the heart of Acadiana, and some of the best parts of South Louisiana are found around a table, accompanied by good food, good music, and people you enjoy being with.
A LITTLE ABOUT US
We’re Zach and Chelsea, and Maison de la Baie is the first home we’ve created through Cypress & Cane.
We fell in love with this property because it does not feel generic. It has quirks. It has stories. It has craftsmanship that would be difficult to recreate today. Most importantly, it feels like Louisiana.
We have worked to preserve everything that gives the house its personality while making it comfortable for the families and friends who stay here.
We hope you swim, play some pool, eat something incredible, explore Lafayette, notice all the strange little details around the house, and spend some uninterrupted time with the people you came to see.
You do not just have to visit Louisiana.
You can stay somewhere that feels like it. Come pass a good time.
