About this house rental

Summary:

This 1984 watchtower, perched on the protected cliffs of La Herradura in Andalusia, is the residence of interior designer Yann Le Coadic, of the Paris-based studio Le Coadic Scotto. The house was featured in Harper’s Bazaar Intérieurs in 2026. Located in the heart of the Maro-Cerro Gordo Natural Park, Atalaya has three bedrooms accommodating up to six guests, each with a king-size bed and its own bathroom. The house also has a private path leading down to Cantarriján Beach. White plaster and pale stone follow the curves of the tower, originally built to test radio signals and now designed as a privileged vantage point from which to watch the sun disappear beyond the horizon.

The Space:

The tower was built in 1984 by a German engineer to test radio signals. A workroom had been set up at the top of the dome for this purpose. Today, the kitchen and main living areas occupy the upper levels, while the rooftop opens directly onto the cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. The interiors combine white plaster, pale stone, and wood, with curved openings and passageways that follow the tower’s original geometry.

Three bedrooms can accommodate up to six guests + 1 child. Each has a king-size bed and its own bathroom. Three additional toilets bring the total number of bathrooms and shower rooms in the house to six.

A small road winds down along the cliff to Cantarriján Beach.

Guest Access:

Guests have exclusive access to the entire house: three bedrooms, the kitchen, living room and dining room, terraces, and the private path leading to Cantarriján Beach. Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. and check-out is before 11:00 a.m.

Just a few minutes from the house, Cantarriján Beach is home to two restaurants directly on the waterfront, La Barraca and Bola Marina, where you can enjoy fresh seafood just steps from the sand.

Parking is available on the property for up to two cars. The surrounding trails are accessible to guests and their dogs.

The Neighborhood:

La Herradura is one of the last preserved and authentic places on the Andalusian coast. The village is known for its horseshoe-shaped bay and subtropical microclimate. It attracts divers, hikers, and those looking for a more peaceful alternative to the Costa del Sol.

There are many restaurants along La Herradura Beach and in the village. Fish and seafood play a central role, with a cuisine that particularly highlights fresh Mediterranean produce. Two restaurants sit directly on the waterfront, La Barraca and Bola Marina, both serving fresh seafood a few steps from the sand.

La Herradura also has a covered market where you can find everything you need for your stay at the house: meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, wine, and other fresh produce. You can also have lunch there at two small restaurants serving simple dishes made with fresh ingredients, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that is especially popular with locals.

Local markets and cafés are a 15-minute drive away. Granada and the Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are approximately an hour away by car. The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba is about two hours away.

Canyoning is also available 30 minutes away, in the clear, fresh waters of the Río Verde. The Nerja Caves are also an easy excursion for those who want to take a break from the cliffs.

Below the house, the beach is divided into two sections: a traditional beach, where the two restaurants are located, and a naturist section separated by a small hill.

Getting Around:

A car is essential for reaching Atalaya and exploring the area beyond La Herradura.

The nearest airport is Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), approximately 75 km away. Granada Airport (GRX) is a second option, approximately 85 km away.

Other Things to Note:

Atalaya is a property deeply immersed in nature, with private beach access, exterior security cameras, and wild landscapes all around. The area is renowned for boat excursions and scuba diving, particularly because the seabed is also part of the nature reserve. Between November and March, there is a rare chance to ski in the Sierra Nevada and swim in the sea on the same day. On certain days, when visibility is exceptional, you can make out the African coast on the distant horizon.

The house is pet-friendly, and dogs are welcome on the surrounding trails. The house is suitable for children over the age of 12 only, who remain under their parents’ oversight.

The house is non-smoking. Smoking is permitted on the rooftop. Events are not allowed.

Upon request, someone can be available during your stay to take care of the house and ensure everything runs smoothly. This service is available for an additional fee.

Interaction with Guests:

Atalaya is ideal for travelers seeking above all peace, privacy, and the sheer beauty of an unspoiled natural setting. The luxury of the place lies in its amenities, exceptional views, and the rare feeling of being alone in the world, surrounded by nature. The house enjoys an especially quiet setting, with no noise disturbance, offering only the sea, cliffs, and the protected landscape of the natural park as its horizons.

The house is some distance from restaurants and shops and operates largely independently, so it is particularly well suited to travelers who appreciate this sense of self-sufficiency and want to fully enjoy a private, spectacular, and peaceful setting.

The host remains available remotely throughout your stay for any questions or issues that may arise.
