Set within the peaceful Shropshire countryside close to the Welsh border, The Old Workshop is a recently renovated, detached one-bedroom annexe offering a characterful escape for two. Combining contemporary comfort with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it is an excellent choice for couples or solo travellers looking to unwind while remaining within easy reach of historic towns, countryside walks and popular North Wales attractions.

Inside, the open-plan living and dining room provides an inviting space in which to relax together. Settle down in front of the Smart TV after a busy day of exploring, or light the wood burner and enjoy a cosy evening beside the fire. The dining area is ideal for leisurely breakfasts, relaxed evening meals or planning the following day’s adventures.

The adjoining kitchen allows guests to prepare meals throughout their stay, whether putting together a picnic for a countryside walk or enjoying a quiet night in. The separate bedroom provides a peaceful retreat at the end of the day, while the bathroom completes the accommodation.

Guests should be aware that there are two internal steps leading into the main annexe from the kitchen and a further two steps down from the bedroom into the bathroom. These changes in level form part of the property’s character but may need to be considered by anyone with limited mobility.

Outside, a private seating area provides a lovely place to enjoy morning coffee, dine in the fresh air or settle down with a drink as the evening draws in. With its detached setting, thoughtful renovation and comfortable living spaces, The Old Workshop offers a relaxing base for a short break or longer countryside holiday.

The property is positioned near Chirk, a historic border town with useful shops, welcoming cafés, traditional pubs and a railway station. The magnificent Chirk Castle makes an excellent day out, with impressive interiors, landscaped gardens and extensive grounds to explore.

Walkers can follow the towpath beside the Llangollen Canal, visit Chirk Aqueduct or venture through the historic canal tunnel. The spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also within easy reach and can be crossed on foot or experienced during a scenic boat trip high above the River Dee.

Nearby Llangollen is a lively riverside town surrounded by beautiful scenery. Browse its independent shops, enjoy refreshments beside the River Dee or follow walking routes towards Castell Dinas Brân and the surrounding hills. The peaceful Ceiriog Valley and sections of Offa’s Dyke Path provide further opportunities for walking and cycling.

Across the border, Oswestry offers an attractive market-town atmosphere with independent businesses, places to eat and regular markets. Ellesmere is another rewarding destination, known for its picturesque mere and waterside walks. Guests can also travel to Wrexham, Chester or deeper into North Wales for a wider choice of shopping, heritage attractions and family days out. Whether your ideal break involves historic castles, canal-side walks, scenic drives or quiet evenings beside the fire, The Old Workshop provides a comfortable and convenient countryside retreat.

These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests.
