About this house rental

Only 1h30 from Lyon, in the heart of the northern Ardèche, our sheepfold lost in the middle of nature at 760 m above sea level, is far from any neighborhood noise or roads. You benefit from a magnificent view of the Ardèche massifs. Ideal for families or friends. From Oct to April, you will find the pleasure of fireplaces, pellet stoves and brazier. Mountain chalet atmosphere!
In summer we welcome 13 people max. You will find the ad at: Rustic Ardèche sheepfold without any neighbors
The accommodation
The little extras of our sheepfold:

As we have just installed a 2nd bathroom and a pellet stove, we have decided to open the sheepfold in autumn and spring (for 8 people maximum). To get an idea, find the comments of other travellers who have been coming for 4 years in summer (at the bottom of the page).

- in the middle of nature without neighbours
- in winter mountain chalet atmosphere with fireplaces / wood stoves and pellets
- On the other hand, given recent climate changes, it is necessary that at least one vehicle is equipped with snow tires or chains/socks
- Smoking and pets allowed
- barbecue, brazier, pizza oven,
- 2 dwellings 15 m apart, one for noise, the other for quiet sleep
- 2 hammocks for naps
- house well equipped to avoid too bulky luggage (e.g. dish towels, sheets, microwave, 2 filter coffee makers, 2 toasters, fryer, bread machine, raclette, fondue...) and all the products of 1st necessities because we come there every month to recharge our batteries.
- washing machine - dishwasher - 2 fridges/freezers
- petanque court (lit up at night), darts, board games
- a small pond below
- for the youngest: a sandbox, 2 swings, a cabin in the woods
- Walks from 20 minutes to 4 hours directly on site without taking your car
- Possibility of having good food delivered to you
- the welcome and exit are carried out by one of our neighbors who can if you wish bring you a good little meal...
- Wifi
- no TV :-)

Before deciding, check that the style of the sheepfold suits you:

- We deliberately wanted to keep the simple and authentic character of this sheepfold. Even if it is well equipped with heating, appliances and board games, it has been fitted out and furnished over time through donations from our families, friends or flea market purchases. Hence its slightly vintage and timeless appearance.
- In some rooms, the basic plank floor is from the period as well as the floor of the living room is still concrete in places a little worn, there is no tiled outdoor terrace or shelters but only grass (heels not recommended)... Also if you are looking for a modern and trendy accommodation, you may not enjoy your stay too much.
- Grimpeloup is at an altitude of 750 m on the northern Ardèche side, so remember to always take a good sweater, anorak/hat/gloves as well as good shoes for walking
- From October to April, you will have to recharge the pellet stove every 24 hours. In the sheepfold, there is an oil stove whose operation will be explained to you as soon as you arrive and for the warm side a central fireplace, wood stove.

- With the vagaries of the weather, you may encounter snow. It is therefore better that at least one vehicle is equipped as for skiing (snow tyres and/or chains).

- Here nature is queen and it regains its rights as soon as we leave it. You will rub shoulders with a multitude of insects, see here and there holes of field mice and moles and maybe even a few hinds or foxes.

- The 1st neighbor is 15 minutes away. Hence this impression of being at the end of the world and without the risk of disturbing the neighbors.

- The flowing water is the water from the spring that all the inhabitants of the area consume. Taste it, just to see, it is delicious. But if you prefer, bring your bottles of mineral water (it is usually 2 liters per day and per person including hot drinks)

- To access Grimpeloup, you have to follow an unpaved forest path for 1.4 km that climbs constantly. All our friends and other travelers for the past 4 years, have been able to reach our house BUT on one condition: STAY IN the 1st grade and follow the signs carefully!

- We do not allow any motorized vehicles to pass through the property but ATVs, walkers
