Sleeping up to 2 Adults and 2 Children, the getaway features a comfortable queen bed and a pull-out sofa bed, along with a private bathroom with a shower and toilet. The kitchen is equipped with basic cooking equipment and utensils, a gas cooktop, and a mini fridge/freezer, making it easy to prepare and store food during your stay.
Step outside and enjoy the tranquillity of rural life. Simply relax and take in the surrounding farmland and beautiful natural scenery. There is Wi-Fi available, but no TV — making this the perfect opportunity to slow down, switch off and enjoy the outdoors.
For those who love exploring, Lake Mangawhio is approximately 5 km from the getaway. Guests can hike, cycle or drive to the lake via the public gravel road. The lake is a beautiful spot to explore and enjoy the surrounding countryside.
Horse riders are welcome by prior arrangement. Bring your horses and explore the farmland and trekking routes towards the lake. Grazing and water can be arranged for your horses during your stay.
The Lakes Road retreat is approximately 30 minutes from Waverley township, 35 minutes from Waverley Beach, and approximately 50 minutes from Whanganui, making it a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside and coast while still enjoying the privacy and peacefulness of a rural farm stay.
Living off the grid
The Lakes Road retreat is completely off-grid, powered by solar energy and gas. To help us keep the system running smoothly, guests are asked to be mindful of their power and water use during their stay.
As this is a working farm, guests may see farm animals and experience the sights and sounds of rural farm life. We ask guests to respect farm areas and follow any instructions given for their safety.
