Because the lagoon shelters it, the water is calmer and warmer than at most beaches in Portugal, which makes it ideal for children and easy swimming. Right on your doorstep you'll find excellent seafood restaurants, colourful local markets and a relaxed village atmosphere. Nearby towns such as Olhão and Tavira are easy to explore, and the Ria Formosa is great for boat trips, birdwatching and island hopping.
