About this apartment rental
Our house is undergoing a transformation; it is an old fishing lodge (rorbu) that was previously used by fishermen and their families. We have now renovated large parts of it, taking care to preserve its original style in terms of materials and atmosphere, while adding modern amenities for greater comfort.
Accommodation
Our house is a work in progress; it was once part of the fishing industry and was used by fishermen and their families. We’ve now renovated large parts of it to keep it as authentic as possible while adding a little more comfort than it had before.
Two-bedroom apartment (with the option to add an extra bed) in a fantastic location overlooking the harbor and the mountains. You also have the option to add an adjacent separate room.
The apartment has recently been carefully renovated to preserve its historic character. That is, to complement the accommodation with modern comforts.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a stovetop and oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, and a dining table with four chairs.
The bathroom has underfloor heating and is tiled in a classic style.
The master bedroom has a double bed with a 140 cm mattress that is very comfortable (medium-soft on top and fairly firm in the core).
The second bedroom has a 120-cm mattress that is very comfortable (soft on top and fairly firm in the core).
Towels and bedding are included.

A few things to know: we have excellent tap water that tastes fantastic, and it’s almost as cold as ice.
Pets are allowed indoors, except on beds, sofas, etc.
This is an old wooden house and a lively environment, so there will be some noise from time to time; if you’re looking for a completely quiet place, this isn’t the right spot for you.
Nearby, you’ll find restaurants and cafés with a local flair. Opening hours vary by season.
Close to fishing, rock climbing, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, art, and galleries.
Enjoy the fantastic nights with the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) in the winter (September through April) and the midnight sun in the summer.
The beaches of Lofoten are probably the best in the country and may be among the best in Europe, with gleaming white sand; Rambergs Beach is one of the most famous beaches, though the water can be a bit cold.
The apartment is located in a building from 1930—previously used as a fish landing facility. It was also used as a “rorbu”—a traditional fisherman’s cabin—to shelter fishermen during storms and other inclement weather.
Parking is available just 50 meters from the apartment. There’s a bus stop right outside the building.
From January through April, there’s plenty of snow, and you can enjoy both downhill and cross-country skiing. Sometimes you can start a couple of weeks later, and during that late season, if you head up to the higher mountains, there’s still snow in early summer.
From late April through October, there are fantastic opportunities for hiking—explore all the trails and discover the stunning mountains of Lofoten.
Year-round, there are excellent opportunities to spot and explore whales and orcas. You’ll find several different tours around Lofoten.
In the surrounding area, you’ll find plenty of sea eagles and seals.
Transportation; It’s quite easy to take the bus from Svolvær to Henningsvær, and there are about 9 departures every weekday. If you can’t take the bus, we can arrange a pickup in our car upon request.
