About this cottage rental
Whether you’re a couple or a small family, this delightful two-bedroom home is perfect for a getaway to Whitstable – tucked away in a peaceful residential street yet only metres from shops and a choice of excellent places to eat (don’t forget to try the famous oysters). The shingle beach is just over half a mile away, offering the chance to hunt for shells, paddle or simply enjoy an ice cream and a stroll with sea views. Wander through the town’s pretty streets, taking in the independent boutiques and art galleries, the colourful beach huts and the charming harbour. If you’re feeling more active, you can book a water sports session, including sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding. Hike the coast path towards Herne Bay (5 miles) or inland to the Blean Woods National Nature Reserve (4.5 miles). Historic Canterbury is just 7 miles away, and Margate can be reached in 19 miles away.
The entrance is to the side of the property, and you’ll enter a hallway which leads straight ahead to the spacious lounge, full of light thanks to its impressive bay window. A lovely fireplace complements the original architecture in this space. Shelves full of books immediately catch your eye, and there is a record player with a selection of vinyl records. If you feel like a more visual form of entertainment, there’s also a Smart TV, ideal for watching your latest show or a family film. The kitchen is at the back of the house, combining fitted and free-standing furniture, with a range-style cooker, generous fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. When you’re ready to sit down and eat, head out to the conservatory, with its views of the garden, or back to the lounge, where there’s built-in bench seating and a table in the window. After a tiring day in the open air, you can choose between the two bright yet tranquil bedrooms, one a spacious double, looks out into the garden and has ample storage, the other a twin with unique murals on the walls. They share a sleek family bathroom.
On warm days, spend time in the enclosed garden, where children can enjoy games on the lawn while you dine at the table in the shade of a mature tree. For guests needing to catch up on emails whilst away, or find a quiet spot to read, there is a large office with Wi-Fi at the end of the garden kitted out with work bench and chairs and a sofa for relaxing. Adding to the convenience of this excellent escape, you’ll also have private parking for one car.
