About this house rental

Sitting right on the edge of the Angkor conservation zone and a stone's throw from the river park, Narivana Angkor is a modern take on the traditional Khmer house with a serene swimming pool in a lush tropical garden.

The space
Narivana Angkor is a beautifully simple house in the traditional Khmer style, sensitively adapted to contemporary needs, with a gorgeous reflection pool in a tropical garden, in a working local neighbourhood within easy cycling distance of Angkor Wat.

Designed by distinguished architect Claire Campens, the house accommodates up to six people in three bedrooms, with a generous terrace overlooking the pool that doubles as a dining space and an open sitting room in the upstairs loggia where you can watch the sun set over the fields.

The upper floor is clad in reclaimed timber from old Cambodian houses, and the bedrooms are simply and stylishly furnished in mostly reclaimed wood with a few stick of furniture and other objects the owners have picked up on their travels. Floors are tiled in locally made colonial tiles.

Mature trees surround the garden and shade an 11m saltwater pool. The house is equipped with all modern comforts, with good fast WiFi, air-conditioning and cooling fans, and plenty of space to sit and relax after a sweaty day at the temples. Staff are at hand to assist you with all your needs.

All bedrooms have a double bed and ensuite bathroom with rain shower. The ground-floor bedroom also has an extra outdoor shower.

Siem Reap, like the rest of Cambodia, is developing rapidly, and Narivana Angkor sits in the middle of a fast-gentrifying semi-rural neighbourhood (the prime minister's family have just built themselves a palace round the corner). That can mean mean all kinds of noise, from building works to dogs and chickens, to say nothing of the perpetual weddings and funerals, which are LOUD in this country. If you are sensitive to noise, bring earplugs.

Power cuts can happen across the city, even next door to the prime minister's palace, but they are getting fewer and further between, and even at the height of the monsoon season they rarely last more than an hour nowadays.

Important: How many guests are coming?

You will have the property to yourselves, but prices are based partly on occupancy — it’s cheaper for two guests than for five — and we prepare as many bedrooms as are needed, so please book for the exact number of guests.

If a friend decides to join you later in your planning, please request a change of booking through Airbnb.
