About this house rental

6 Miles to Glacier, Luxury 5.6-Acre Retreat
Stay just 6 miles from the West Entrance of Glacier National Park on 5.6 private wooded acres. The Fox Den is a newly built three-bedroom, two-bath mountain home for up to seven guests, with a vaulted great room, tall stone fireplace, well-appointed kitchen, new mattresses, and an outdoor firepit beneath the pines. Warm wood, natural stone, and carefully chosen furnishings give the home a polished Montana feel without losing the character of a mountain getaway.

The home brings together the character of a Montana cabin with the comfort and conveniences of modern construction. Wood-clad walls and ceilings, exposed beams, natural stone, Italian-made porcelain tile floors, dark cabinetry, and warm, understated furnishings give the house a distinctly mountain feel without being overly rustic.

The Fox Den sleeps up to seven guests in three bedrooms and has two full bathrooms, making it a comfortable fit for families, couples traveling together, or a small group of friends.

The great room is the heart of the home, with a soaring wood-clad vaulted ceiling, exposed timber beams, a circular chandelier, and a tall fireplace built with locally sourced stone. Plenty of seating makes it easy to settle in together after a day in Glacier, while windows flanking the fireplace look out toward the surrounding woods. As evening settles in, gather around the firepit beneath the pines and watch the last light of the day fade behind the mountains.

The open kitchen and dining area give everyone another place to gather. Start the morning around the island with coffee and breakfast, stop in for snacks during the day, or bring home dinner after a long afternoon in the park. The kitchen features dark cabinetry, quartzite countertops, a natural slate backsplash, pendant lighting, double wall ovens, and an 8-foot center island. It is also stocked beyond the basics, with premium cookware, knives, dinnerware, and glassware from makers including Staub, All-Clad, Zwilling, Lenox, and Zwiesel Glas. The adjoining dining area provides ample space for meals, conversation, and games.

Each bedroom features a new, carefully selected mattress, layered bedding, and understated mountain furnishings. Blackout Roman shades help keep the rooms dark during northwest Montana’s long summer evenings, when daylight can linger well into the night. The primary suite includes a king bed, a vaulted wood ceiling, a chandelier, and an adjoining private bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third features a Twin XL-over-Queen bunk bed that works well for children, teenagers, or adults.

Two full bathrooms give families and groups room to get ready for the day. A tankless water heater provides continuous hot water for back-to-back showers and laundry without waiting for a traditional tank to recover.

Whether you spend your days hiking, fishing, watching wildlife, photographing the landscape, or simply exploring Glacier`s lakes and scenic roads, The Fox Den puts you close to the park while giving you plenty of room to come home and unwind.

The Fox Den sits on 5.6 private wooded acres, offering a sense of space and seclusion that can be difficult to find this close to Glacier National Park. Tall pines surround the property, a covered porch provides another place to enjoy the setting, and the outdoor firepit is an easy place to spend a Montana evening.

LOCATION

One of the best things about The Fox Den is how close it is to Glacier while still offering room of its own.

The West Entrance of Glacier National Park is just 6 miles away, making it easy to get an early start, return home between activities when your plans allow, and spend less of your vacation driving back and forth to the park.

Like many homes along the corridor between West Glacier and Whitefish, The Fox Den is near an active rail line, and guests will hear passing trains. Please read the railroad information below before booking.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

A NOTE ABOUT THE RAILROAD

The Fox Den is near an active rail line, and trains will pass during both the day and night. The railroad is a longstanding part of this corner of Montana. Rail travel played an important role in bringing early visitors to Glacier National Park, and the route remains part of the landscape today. Amtrak`s Empire Builder still travels through the area between West Glacier and Whitefish.

THE EXPERIENCE

Part of what makes The Fox Den different is that you do not have to choose between staying close to Glacier and having some space of your own. You can head into the park early, spend the day on the trails, lakes, and scenic roads, then return to 5.6 wooded acres just a few miles away.

We wanted the home to feel special, but still easy to settle into. There is room to put your feet up, a well-equipped kitchen when you need it, new mattresses at the end of the day, and gathering spaces where everyone can spend time together without feeling crowded.

Have coffee on a slow morning, come home with takeout after a bucket-list hike, settle in by the fireplace, or finish the day outside around the fire.

The owner is a Coram native, and The Fox Den grew out of a desire to create the kind of place she and her family would want to return to after a day in Glacier—a well-appointed mountain home that feels true to its setting and adds something special to the trip itself.

Welcome to The Fox Den.
