About this apartment rental

Welcome to Garden Galley Nook, a cosy, self-contained private annexe tucked away in the East Yorkshire village of Sproatley.

Perfect for couples, wedding guests, solo travellers and coastal explorers, the Nook offers your own snug living space, well-equipped kitchenette, comfortable king-size bedroom and stylish bathroom, along with thoughtful little extras to help you feel at home. Best suited to couples, solo travellers and business guests, children are very welcome by prior arrangement and additional sleeping arrangements can be discussed.

Ideally placed for exploring the coast, countryside and nearby Hull, with village pubs, countryside walks and local attractions within easy reach, it’s your cosy little base for an East Yorkshire escape. 🌿

Explore Sproatley and the local area

You don’t need to venture far to enjoy your stay. Sproatley is a lovely East Yorkshire village with plenty within easy reach of Garden Galley Nook.

There are two pubs in the village. The Constable Arms serves food, while the historic Blue Bell — affectionately known locally as the “Top Pub” — has been serving the community since at least the 1780s, with parts of the building dating back more than 200 years.

A third option, The Lakeside Bar, can be found at nearby Burton Constable Holiday Park. It’s open to the public and, as the name suggests, enjoys a beautiful setting overlooking the lake.

For coffee, cake or something to eat, The Stables is a fantastic café located within the beautiful Burton Constable Hall estate, serving meals, snacks, coffees and cakes. You don’t need to be visiting the Hall to enjoy the café — it can be visited separately without paying admission to the attraction.

If you do fancy exploring, Burton Constable Hall itself is a magnificent Grade I listed Elizabethan mansion, with beautiful parkland and grounds right on our doorstep. It’s just a 5-minute drive away, or around a half-hour stroll via the holiday park — just ask me for directions!

Back in the village, you’ll find a handy shop and Post Office, two hairdressers and our historic village church, as well as some lovely countryside walks to enjoy straight from the village.

And if you fancy venturing a little further, there are plenty more great pubs, restaurants and places to eat within around a 10-minute drive.

Explore the East Yorkshire coast

We’re perfectly placed for days by the sea and exploring some of East Yorkshire’s beautiful coastline.

Spurn Point Nature Reserve is a popular day out for Garden Galley Nook guests and is around 45 minutes away. A little closer to home, the beach at Mappleton is around 15 minutes away, while the traditional seaside towns of Withernsea and Hornsea can be reached in around 20–25 minutes.

Venture a little further and you’ll find Bridlington and its historic harbour around 45 minutes away, the dramatic cliffs of Flamborough Head in around an hour and Scarborough in around 75 minutes. Even Whitby is within reach for a day trip before returning to your own cosy nook at the end of the day.

A cosy space to call your own

The open-plan living area has a comfortable sofa, Smart TV and small dining/workspace — perfect for putting your feet up with a drink and a film after a day exploring.

The kitchenette is compact but well equipped, with an induction hob, combination microwave oven, air fryer, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, kettle and everything you’ll need to prepare a simple meal. You’ll also find useful kitchen essentials including oil, salt and pepper, washing-up liquid and cloths waiting for you.

When it’s time to turn in, the separate bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed with quality bedding, soft lighting, bedside tables and plenty of storage for clothes and luggage.

The bathroom has a walk-in shower, WC and basin, with fresh towels provided. There’s even an emergency supplies basket containing a few of those easily forgotten essentials — just in case!

Little extras to make you feel at home

Garden Galley Nook is completely self-contained and yours to enjoy privately throughout your stay, with its own separate entrance and no shared indoor living spaces.

Check-in is completely self-service via a secure lockbox, so you can arrive at your convenience from the stated check-in time. Full arrival information and your lockbox code will be provided before your stay.

Outside you’ll also have a private sheltered seating area, perfect for a quiet morning coffee or an evening drink.

Easy parking is usually available directly outside the property or within just a few steps, while the peaceful village location gives you countryside on the doorstep and keeps Hull, the coast and local attractions within easy reach.

EV charging and a laundry service can also be arranged for an additional fee and should ideally be requested at least 48 hours in advance.

Visiting for work?

Garden Galley Nook also makes a comfortable alternative to a hotel for those working locally, giving you your own living space and kitchenette to come back to at the end of the day.

Saltend Chemicals Park, Siemens Gamesa and Hull’s major employment sites are all within an easy drive of around 15–20 minutes. Aldbrough Gas Storage is also around 15 minutes away, with Easington Gas Terminal around 45 minutes away.

Longer and regular stays are very welcome — please get in touch to discuss availability and rates.

Your own space, with help close by

Garden Galley Nook adjoins our family home, but your accommodation and entrance are entirely your own. You may occasionally hear the sounds of everyday family life next door or outside during the warmer months, and we’ll always endeavour to keep noise to a minimum so you can enjoy a peaceful stay.

We’ll leave you to enjoy the Nook in peace, but I’m close by if you need anything during your stay and always happy to help where I can.

Whatever brings you to East Yorkshire, Garden Galley Nook is a space to call your own

Whether you’re here for a wedding, a weekend by the coast, a few quiet days in the countryside, visiting friends and family or somewhere comfortable to stay while working locally, we strive to provide a warm and welcoming little space to come back to, with everything you need to relax, settle in and enjoy your stay.
