Tucked among cedars above the sea on Miller's Landing, the Cedar Cabin at Miller Oceanfront Retreat offers a peaceful, design-forward escape. This cozy, restored cabin features light wood interiors, a bedroom with an unholstered king bed, fully equipped kitchenette, and private deck with glimpses of the sea. Enjoy shared oceanfront access if booked with the other cabins, quiet forest surroundings, and proximity to Snug Cove. Ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking nature-immersed stay.

We are in the Millers Landing area of Bowen Island—very close to the main town of Snug Cove, but a world away in terms of quietude and the feeling of being up front and personal with nature. David Road is a small, residential street that winds along the coast, and our family property comprised of a few cottages hugging the hillside that drops dramatically down in to the Howe Sound. At Cedar Cabin, you can see neighbours on both sides, but the cottages still feels private. The driveway is shared with us or other guests staying at the two lower oceanfront cabins.
The cabin is just to the left of the parking area. Park to the left when you enter the gate, and follow the little path to the front steps. There is no access to the water from Cedar Cabin unless you have booked them together with the Salt and Arbutus Cabins.
Tucked among towering evergreens at the edge of the ocean, the Cedar Cabin at Miller Oceanfront Retreat offers a quiet, grounded stay immersed in nature. This thoughtfully restored cabin pairs the simplicity of coastal cabin living with subtle, design-forward touches that create a space that feels both nostalgic and deeply calming. The setting feels secluded, yet you remain just a short drive from Snug Cove’s cafes, shops, and ferry access.
Inside, the mix of painted wood, wood beams, and natural textures set the tone. The cabin is compact yet well-appointed, with an open-concept layout that makes the most of its small footprint and surroundings. A comfortable bedroom with SMART TV and king bed, cozy living room with the large window and wood stove as focal points, and a fully equipped kitchenette provide everything needed for a relaxed and self-sufficient stay. Large windows draw in soft forest light and offer glimpses of the ocean beyond the trees.
Step outside onto your private deck to take in the salty air and towering cedars that surround the cabin. This is a place for slow mornings with coffee, afternoons spent exploring nearby trails or beaches, and evenings unwinding to the sound of the water. Equipped with a small BBQ, propane fire bowl (for use year round, even during fire bans), and outdoor lounge chairs, you can spend hours here in total comfort.
If you book the Cedar Cabin together with the lower oceanfront cabins, SALT + ARBUTUS, you also gain access to the shared oceanfront areas of the property, where you can wander down to the shoreline, and watch passing boats and marine life. The view is spectacular!
The Miller Retreat is intentionally low-key and peaceful—suited to those looking to disconnect, recharge, and experience Bowen Island at a gentler pace. It has been in our family for 100 years and houses many cherished memories. We are pleased to share it with our guests!
Ideal for solo travellers or couples, the Cedar Cabin is a simple, beautiful base for exploring the island or doing very little at all on Bowen Island time.
One of the two Bowen Island busses will stop by request near the entrance of Miller Road and it would take maybe 10 minutes to walk to the property from that drop off point. There is no Uber or taxi service on the island. It is recommended that you bring your car to take advantage of all there is to see and do on Bowen, though it IS possible to come to this property without a vehicle by bus, bike (rent and eBike from Bowen eBikes), or on foot. We can provide maps that will get you here via small roads and trails, including crossing one of our favourite nearby beaches.
HEATING: The cabin is heated with baseboard heaters and a large wood stove in the living room. You are welcome to use the wood stove with proper coaching on safe use. We provide wood.
ACCESS: The cabin is next to the driveway, to the left. Park to the left after entering the gates and you will see a small path leading the front steps.
** There is no access to the ocean from Cedar Cabin unless you have booked them together with the Salt and Arbutus Cabins. **
ADDITIONAL SPACE: We also have two oceanfront cottages available under a different listing (Miller Oceanfront Retreat | Salt + Arbutus Cabins). Sometimes Arbutus can be booked on its own, so let us know if you need room for just 1-2 more, or if you want an oceanfront stay next time! This cabin can be booked together with others when they are available. If you need additional space/more beds, just let us know!
