Bonniedale Wilderness Ranch

Had a lovely stay, there are amazing trails on the property for hiking, and some serious 4x4 routes. Hiked with the owners to a cave with San rock paintings. Great rock pools for swimming and relaxing on a hot day. Had a wonderful, restful time at Bonniedale!

Spent one night at the Horseshoe Chalet with my partner and it was a great base for exploring Bonniedale. The outdoor braai area was a highlight in the evening, and the indoor fireplace was a nice touch when it got cold. Being so close to the river added to the peaceful setting. The accommodation itself is basic, but clean and functional — exactly what you need after a day out on the farm. The mountains and landscapes are stunning, and we made the most of our short stay with some hiking and 4x4ing. In the morning a few of the horses wandered over to say hello, which was a lovely surprise. A great overnight stop for anyone wanting a peaceful, scenic base to explore the farm, just wish we'd booked a second night to see more.

Applehuis is an absolute gem and was the perfect getaway for our group of friends! The hosts' communication was excellent—the instructions were clear, and the place was exactly as described. The property sits just above a dam that is perfect for swimming, especially after a long day of exploring the hiking and 4x4 trails nearby. We loved sitting on the large deck and spent hours outside together taking in the landscape and watching the local wildlife wander by. Inside, the house was spotlessly clean and well-equipped with every amenity we needed. Having a braai (both indoor and outdoor) was a great way to end our evenings. If you are looking for the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and rustic comfort for a group, this is it. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and will definitely be back!
