Fasano, situated on the border between the provinces of Brindisi and Bari, is dominated by the hills of the Selva, which gently slope down toward the sea through an endless expanse of millennia-old olive trees and characteristic farmhouses. The charming historic center is whitewashed, and the numerous churches lining the narrow streets define the town’s landscape, along with the imposing historic palaces that bear witness to the city’s glorious past. Must-see attractions include Piazza Ciaia, the Torrione delle Fogge, and the Church of St. John the Baptist. The hilly Selva area overlooks the city with its villas nestled in the greenery and the Minaret. To the east lie the coastal villages, notably Savelletri and Torre Canne, as well as the Egnazia Archaeological Park. Just a few kilometers away lies Cisternino, a village recognized as one of the most beautiful in Italy; Alberobello, whose famous trulli have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996; Ostuni, the famous “White City”; and Monopoli and Polignano a Mare, ancient fishing villages with charming historic centers and beautiful beaches. To the north (60 km) lies Bari, the “Gateway to the East,” while heading south, you’ll first encounter the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, then Brindisi, and finally Lecce, the capital of Baroque art. Heading west, you’ll find Taranto, the heart of Magna Graecia, and finally Matera, known for its “Sassi” and designated as a European Capital of Culture.
The Bari and Brindisi airports are 60 and 45 minutes by car from the accommodation, respectively.
