About this apartment rental

Summary:

This is a lovely and modern two-bedroom flat on a residential street in SW10, moments from Fulham Road and within easy reach of South Kensington, Chelsea and Earl's Court. The layout is simple and easy, built around a sleek, open-plan modern living and dining room that opens onto a private terrace, bringing plenty of natural light into the space. It is a stylish and spacious base in a great location in London. Ideally suited to couples, working professionals, or a small family.

The Space:

This lovely flat is bright and generously proportioned, with a modern feel and natural light running through it. The heart of the home is a spacious open-plan living and dining room at the front. It has been laid out with real care, and includes two large, comfortable sofas gathered around a wood-burning stove, a dining table set to one side, an office desk tucked neatly into the corner, and a flat-screen TV.

A real highlight of this flat is the private terrace, accessed through the French doors in the living room. It is a rare find in central London and decently sized, with its own outdoor furniture already in place and looking out over the trees across the street. Chic and private, it is perfect for leisurely summer mornings, afternoons or evenings with family and friends.

There is a distinct sense of personal touch throughout the flat, where the carefully thought-out interiors bring a pop of colour that sits perfectly against the neutral walls and the wide-plank wood floors. Natural light pours in through the full-height French doors and windows in the sitting room, giving the whole flat a light, open base.

A modern and well-appointed kitchen sits separately; it includes ample appliances, a gas stove and oven, and plenty of cabinets.

Both bedrooms are comfortably spacious, similarly designed with a sense of personal touch, thoughtful furniture and smart interiors. The master bedroom is fitted with a king-sized bed, a large built-in wardrobe, and it comes with its own modern en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom is fitted with a double bed and also has generous storage space. There is a second shared modern bathroom, fitted with a bathtub and a stand-in shower.

Guest Access:

Guests will have access to the entire flat.

The Neighborhood:

Fawcett Street sits in a great and convenient location between the Fulham Road and the Old Brompton Road, on the edge of Chelsea where it meets South Kensington and Earl's Court. It is a quiet residential street of Victorian terraces, a short walk from a variety of shops, restaurants and cafés of the Fulham Road, with the King's Road, the South Kensington museums and Brompton Cemetery all within easy reach. Central London is straightforward from here, with three Underground stations and frequent buses close by.

Some notable recommendations and options we consider visiting are:

Restaurants and cafés:

There is a lot on the doorstep. Bibendum, in the beautiful Michelin House on the Fulham Road, is a genuine landmark for both its oyster bar and its dining room. Closer still, the Old Brompton Road has two of London's best Spanish kitchens in Cambio de Tercio and its tapas sibling Capote y Toros. Towards Chelsea, Daphne's is a long-running Italian institution, while the Ivy Chelsea Garden and Bluebird on the King's Road are both reliable for a relaxed lunch or dinner. On Hollywood Road, Brinkley’s and La Mia Mamma are popular options for al fresco dining. Over in South Kensington, Daquise is a charming old-school Polish restaurant by the station, and Launceston Place offers intimate, seasonal British cooking. For coffee and pastries, Gail's on the Fulham Road is the easy local choice.

Green spaces:

-Brompton Cemetery, at the end of the Old Brompton Road, with its long tree-lined avenues and chapel, one of the loveliest green walks in this part of London

-Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, a little further north, for the Serpentine and miles of open space

-Eel Brook Common and Parsons Green, towards Fulham, for a quieter local green

Museums and Culture:

-The South Kensington museums, the V&A, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, all a short walk or one stop away and among the best in the world

-The Saatchi Gallery at Duke of York Square, contemporary art with free entry

-The Royal Court Theatre on Sloane Square, one of London's most important new-writing theatres

-The Troubadour on the Old Brompton Road, a historic coffee house and music venue where Dylan once played, still going for coffee by day and gigs by night

Local pubs:

-The Hollywood Arms

-The Drayton Arms on the Old Brompton Road, a handsome corner local with a fringe theatre upstairs

-The Anglesea Arms on Selwood Terrace, a proper South Kensington pub with a good garden

-The Hereford Arms near Gloucester Road, comfortable and traditional

Markets and shopping:

-The King's Road and Fulham Road for boutiques, and the run of interiors and design showrooms around Brompton Cross

-The Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour, further down towards the river in SW10, a destination in its own right for interiors

-Duke of York Square Fine Food Market, on Saturdays, for excellent produce and street food

-Peter Jones on Sloane Square for everything under one roof

Getting Around:

West Brompton is the nearest Underground station, around a ten-minute walk, on the District line with London Overground and Southern rail alongside it.

Earl's Court is a similar distance and adds the Piccadilly line, which runs direct to Heathrow.

South Kensington and Gloucester Road are also within easy reach.

Many bus routes also run frequently along Fulham Road and Old Brompton Road. Bus number 14 leaves from outside the hospital and runs directly through to the West End in less than 30 minutes. We recommend downloading the CityMapper app, which plans the best recommended routes and journeys to your destination.
