About this cabin rental
With two bedrooms and space to comfortably sleep up to six guests, the cabin is ideal for families, couples, friends, or anyone looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by woods and water. Here, privacy and tranquility come naturally.
One of the best features of Hummingbird Grove is access to beautiful, glacier-dug County Line Lake. At 59 acres with a maximum depth of 72 feet, this quiet lake is a wonderful place to enjoy the water without the noise and traffic found on larger recreational lakes.
County Line Lake is a non-motorized lake, making it perfect for canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming. Guests are welcome to use either of our two kayaks to explore the lake. Paddle along the shoreline, take a morning kayak ride, go for a refreshing swim, or simply spend some time floating and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Because the lake is non-motorized, you’ll find a slower, quieter atmosphere. Instead of the sound of boat engines, you can enjoy the sounds of nature, the breeze through the trees, and the peaceful rhythm of the water. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unplug.
Hummingbird Grove is more than a place to stay — it’s a place to get away.
Wake up to the quiet of the woods. Enjoy your morning coffee without the rush of everyday life. Spend an afternoon on the lake, take a nap, read a book, or simply sit outside and enjoy being somewhere peaceful.
There’s no need to fill every hour with activities. Some of the best memories may come from the simplest moments: watching the sun move across the lake, paddling in the evening, sharing a meal with family or friends, or enjoying the quiet after a day of exploring.
The cabin’s private setting gives you room to relax and enjoy your own space while still keeping you within easy driving distance of outdoor recreation, local shops, restaurants, golf, skiing, and seasonal events.
The Birchwood area is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts in every season.
Nearby hiking opportunities include the Green Lake Trail and the Ice Age Trail. Lace up your hiking shoes and explore the woods, enjoy the scenery, and experience the natural beauty of Wisconsin’s Northwoods.
For golfers, Tagalong Golf Course in Birchwood offers another great way to spend a summer day.
Winter visitors can enjoy Christie Mountain, a ski and tubing recreation center located about a 20-minute drive from Hummingbird Grove. Spend the day skiing or tubing, then return to the quiet comfort of your private cabin.
If you’d like to explore a larger lake, Red School Resort offers pontoon rentals at a reasonable rate on nearby Lake Chetac. It’s a great option for spending a day cruising, swimming, fishing, or enjoying the lake with family and friends.
Although Hummingbird Grove feels wonderfully secluded, you’re never far from the essentials.
Forgot something for your stay? Pioneer Market & Deli, located on Main Street in Birchwood, offers fresh-baked goods daily along with the grocery staples you may need.
For coffee, baked treats, or something sweet, Birchwood also has a bakery & coffeehouse and Cone Cabin, both just a short drive away.
The local Cenex is another convenient stop, offering bait and tackle, ice cream cones, and a BBQ Smokehouse. Whether you need fishing supplies, a quick meal, fuel, or an afternoon ice cream, it’s a handy place to know about.
Summer at Hummingbird Grove is all about the water. Take one of the kayaks out on County Line Lake, swim, paddle board, fish, or simply relax beside the lake.
Fall brings cooler temperatures, changing leaves, and excellent opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding Northwoods.
Winter transforms the area into a destination for skiing, tubing, snow activities, and cozy cabin getaways, with Christie Mountain only about 20 minutes away.
Spring offers a quieter opportunity to explore the trails, watch the landscape come back to life, and enjoy the peacefulness of the area before the busier summer season.
No matter when you visit, Hummingbird Grove provides a comfortable and private place to return to at the end of the day. Just come, settle in, and enjoy Hummingbird Grove at your own pace.
