About this farm stay rental

Discover rural southern Minnesota from this restored 125‑year‑old century farm cottage situated on almost four acres. The 5‑bedroom, 2.5‑bathroom home blends historic charm with modern amenities and comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests (three queen beds and four twin beds). Gather, explore, breathe, and enjoy the slower pace of rural southern Minnesota.
Step into the side porch, the perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful sunrise overlooking the fields and the classic red-and-white shed. A selection of puzzles and games is available for your enjoyment, and a table with four chairs provides a comfortable place to gather and play.

The eat-in kitchen features original wainscoting, hardwood floors, and a charming built-in cabinet that highlight the home's historic character. Fully equipped for everything from a quick snack to a home-cooked meal, it includes a gas range, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, large sink, and generous counter space.

You'll also find plenty of dishes, cookware, bakeware, serving pieces, and cooking utensils, along with convenient small appliances such as a slow cooker, stand mixer, blender, and air popcorn popper. Basic spices are provided, and the coffee station is well stocked with a Keurig, drip coffee maker, and electric kettle.

The comfortable living room, where the original hardwood floors continue, offers plenty of seating, including a spacious sectional sofa. A 65-inch Smart TV makes it the perfect spot for movie nights, while the inviting space is equally suited for board games, conversation, or simply relaxing and enjoying views of the surrounding countryside.

The romantic main-floor primary bedroom features a comfortable queen four-poster bed. Its adjoining four-piece en suite blends historic charm with modern comfort, featuring a beautifully refinished early-1900s claw-foot tub, an antique vanity, and a tucked-away water closet with a zero-entry shower. A washer and dryer are also conveniently located in the en suite. An additional half bathroom completes the main level.

The four additional bedrooms are located upstairs and offer beautiful views of the grove, surrounding fields, and star-filled night skies. Please note that the staircase to the second floor is characteristically steep, as is common in homes built in the early 1900s.

Two upstairs bedrooms each feature a queen bed, while the other two each include two twin beds. The upstairs bathroom offers a shower/tub combination with the home's original 1950s cast-iron bathtub.

A cozy sitting nook provides the perfect place to read, relax, or enjoy a conversation while taking in the exposed brick of the original chimney, beautiful hardwood floors, detailed woodwork, and original plaster walls.

For our youngest guests, we happily provide a pack ’n play with sheet, a simple baby monitor, a booster seat, and a selection of toddler toys to help make your stay more comfortable.

When you're ready to head outdoors, enjoy the fieldstone fire pit with plenty of firewood provided, tree swings, or the soon-to-be-completed 12-by-12-foot treehouse tucked away in the grove. The treehouse will be available beginning in September 2026!

Guests will find a variety of rural, historic, and small-town attractions within easy reach of the farmhouse. Highlights include the annual Farm Fest and historic Gilfillan Estate (10 minutes away), Fort Ridgely (15 minutes), Redwood Falls and Ramsey Park (20 minutes), New Ulm’s historic Main Street and other attractions (30 minutes), the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove (45 minutes), and the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum in Granite Falls (45 minutes).

The nearby communities of Springfield (10 minutes), Sleepy Eye (15 minutes), Redwood Falls (20 minutes), Fairfax (25 minutes), and New Ulm (30 minutes) offer charming small-town bakeries, local eateries, antique shops, grocery stores, and museums to explore.

For those looking to venture a little farther, the world-famous MN Candy Barn in Jordan and the city of Mankato are both just about an hour’s drive away.
